I know the press ***** about Fergies Babes but the core of this side are never mentioned about Anfield 89,it pisses me off,half this youth side went on to have great careers,how many medals did half this team go on to win?

4 went on to be full England internationals
Adams, Keown, Rocastle and Thomas

Hayes was out top scorer in 87/88,

So many of our players came through the ranks or bought form small clubs, Stoke - Bould and Dixon, Wimbledon - Nutty Nigel, Leicester - Smudger , Sheff Weds - Marwood

George didn't spend £50m on a player did he ?

Great photo of some truly legendary Arsenal players in that pic. With regards to Rocastle it must be getting to the stage where a lot of fans are too young to know or understand his contributions to the side in the late 80s/early 90s.

That's the great thing about forums like this, we can explain what it was like to wear the badge back in the day when footballers where much closer to the man in the street.

I wont bore anyone again with the story (mentioned it before on another thread on OG) but I met Rocky at Charing Cross station many years ago,we chatted for a bit like people do,lovely lovely fella,just a normal bloke living the dream,no "Billy Big Bollocks I'm An Arsenal Player" about him,in fact he'd got the train from Lewisham in his Arsenal training gear and Micky Thomas was picking him up outside,really nice geezer,

Great idea to have a commemorative plaque and biography of Rocky at Ashburton Grove... The stadium does still lack a certain sense of the rich history of the club.

You are not boring anyone here, mate. I love to hear stories about those times and the players. I was in my late teens/20's and young and single with alot more disposable income for the GG era and went to alot more games back then. I felt a real affiliation with the club and players, certainly more than nowadays. I kind of look on that time as "my" time as a Gooner. Even though I went to hundreds of games after GG and during the heyday of the Wenger era (and loved those trips and games) I still kind of associate more with the GG era somehow.
