We tried to sign Rednose before GG... how different things might have been. But then, Rednose has always had money at Utd and was able to pay top wages - would he have been as successful with us and our notorious pay structure in the 80's and 90's? Certainly he would have had SOME success, but as ...

Ultimately teams are a reflection of their manager. Come this stage of the season Fergie doesn't talk about tiredness and his teams get stronger at this time of year than weaker. The current Utd team/squad is a poor imitation of his previous teams but the sum of its parts is greater than the ...

[I can picture the scene....

As Wenger walks in at FT Eboue dives to the floor to hide.
Jacks tries to silently tweet away but gets away with it as Almunia, realising what's going on, rushes out of the toilet late only to collide into Squaillaci.
Cesc and Theo stop there talks of tattoo's as Wenger ...

Gordon Strachen was on Goals on Sunday yesterday talking about playing under Fergie. He said the players dreaded making a mistake just before half time as they would get the hairdryer treatment and would sit in the dressing room looking at the floor waiting for his polished shoes to stop in front of ...

Underachievement under Wenger

It strikes me that Wenger has always fallen short when it comes to winning when winning wasn't expected/probable.
Even when we were winning silverware, we arguably underachieved given how good a team he had.
The trophies that we have won under his leadership have nearly all been won as a result of ...

Re: CAN WE BLOW TOP 4 FINISH. AND AN ADMISSION

[Yes I do, but sometimes it is necessary to make sacrafices for the long term greater good. We will not move forward unde Wenger, he has told us that he won't buy big even if the money was available, so it is only a matter of time until we are surpassed by teams currently on our tails.
And if you ...

Its exactly this type of mentality that staggers me.
Yes we are all utterly dumbfounded that a team can throw away a 4 goal lead but the fact remains we made ground on the one team above us this weekend. We are 2nd in the league .. fact. 2nd because we have more points than all the teams below us ...

He says judge the team in 2 years does that mean he believes this team cannot win anything untill 2 years time (2010/2011 season) if so why does he expect fans to pay the highest prices in the country with no reward?
.

Its ridiculous comments like this that make me want to hand my season ticket ...

[quote="Skooner"]I’ve got so many thoughts on this but I will try and restrict to what I think are the most relevant:

No one thinks we have a divine right to win anything, what they do (or at least should) expect is a challenge, and for the players to strive for the best even if they don’t ...

I don't contradict myself at all actually, my point is that despite putting together a run that has been beyond every other club this ...

I've expected not to be winning anything for the past 2/3 years whilst we committ into the staduim devlepment and payments. However, Wengers still made us 'fairly' competative iin this time.
Maybe that's we're his going wrong by giving us the glimer of hope!

Look at the squad and how much ...
