Re: Bradford.FC fire

If you recall the old north bank stand, the drop at the front was quite significant. With the advertising hoardings being fixed there too it was still a reasonable height to have to climb over. Combine that with a surge from the back and you could quickly be in trouble. It is fair to say though ...

Re: Bradford.FC fire

Guys, we should never forget what happened that day. 96 innocent people lost their lives in the most tragic of circumstance.

I do understand though how the general feelings of sympathy for those affected by this human tragedy are being replaced with an ever growing "FFS, not that again" attitude ...

Re: NEWCASTLE GAME THREAD

Why the negativity! Newcastle have beaten Chelsea, Spurs and United over recent weeks and we get a well earned three points. I understand people's problems with Wenger but c'mon enjoy a victory for at least ten minutes before turning on the negativity!

Re: Away Trips Go Bad

Worst ever trip was a 3 day excursion by travel club coach to see us in the away leg v Austria Vienna, (we had won the first leg 5-1 so were effectively through already)
Coach wasn't allowed to stop by our police escort through France / Germany saw the game which we lost 1-0 and only on the return ...

Re: Away Trips Go Bad

Zaragosa in Paris was a great trip despite the result and had a great encounter with a swamp dweller to boot. We headed to Paris the day before the game. We were on the first train to Harwich to get the SeaCat, it was packed with Gooners. We pulled into Ashford for a scheduled stop. A bloke comes ...

Re: Away Trips Go Bad

Oldham away 1989 - 1990 season.

Cold, windswept terrace.
We lost 3-1, Quinn scored for us.
A first generation plastic pitch!
Waste of money, to see us play on a plastic pitch, where the bounce of the ball was odd and we never got to grips with that.

Was that the one where everyone piled onto the ...

Away Trips Go Bad

Following my recounting on another thread of my Anfield 89 trip that didn't quite go to plan it got me thinking of other trips that went a bit wonky! The stand out one was Sampdoria away in 95. Should have been a day of food, drink and the Arsenal was instead a day spent locked in a dockside car ...

Re: DORTMUND CL GAME THREAD

I spent my early twenties following George's Arsenal frustrate teams all over Europe and nicking a goal ending in that wonderful night in Copenhagen. Have that feeling again tonight and it's a good one!

Re: Sitting in the wrond end

Done it at a few inc Ipswich, Norwich, QPR, when needs must but not easy to contain yourself either way when a goal is scored.
Oh and Luton, when we were all banned but approx half the ground were Gooners and Tone got a standing ovation for getting sent off !!
Have also sat in with Away fans at ...

Re: Home against the mousers

If the team that bestroyed Napoli in the first half turn up then it's a comfortable win. If the team that struggled against Palace turn up then we could be in trouble. I think the game will be won or lost in midfield and we need everyone to be at the top of their game! I sit next to a scouser at ...

Re: Anfield '89 stories?

Been lurking for ages but 26 May 89 is etched into my memory so had to post. Here's my story from that day.

Now this is the point the night went a bit wrong for me. Thomas scored, I leapt in the air and my glasses launched themselves high into the night sky never to be seen again. Without my ...

Due to a lack of Arsenal news thought I'd give you something a little different. A look back at my favourite moment as a gooner.

The 26 May will always be our day. The Mancs would later try ...
