Re: Home to Burnley Sat 17th 12.30
I'm not saying I'm much older than you lot but I had a thing for Jon Samels/George Eastham & Joe Baker. When they sold Geoff Strong to Liverpool I cried (a bit). The North Bank had a real character named Bill Baily - anyone remember him ??. In those days I can't remember anyone wearing team col...

Re: Home to Burnley Sat 17th 12.30
Joe Baker my first boyhood hero , his spat with Ron Yeats and the great smell of Brut . Memories of the North bank. Yes indeed. Joe i think finished his career at Raith Rovers. Won one two caps for England but was a Scot at heart. Remember he sent his wife to Scotland when the baby was due to make ...

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I've read a report that says the corbollocks 1 year loan with no buy back will cost us £15 million ?????? Surely that's not true ????? Or is it ?????? I doubt if his wages are more than 40k week and even a 3 million loan fee only makes it 5 ??? I wouldn't be surprised - penny wise and pound stupid ...

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I've given up with this whole transfer window saga....I can't be bothered with these embarrassing 'bids' that we are throwing about. Zaha, who we don't need, is just pure misdirection to get some attention as big spenders  but then we bid peanuts for an established left back, who we do need, ...

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Reckon he would be a good buy if we do get him. One problem area hopefully solved but his track record with injuries is a bit of a concern for someone of his age.falkirk goon wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 6:49 amI hope we get him as he's a class player.rodders999 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2019 11:41 pm£25m bid for Tierney gone in.....almost time for Raul to put it away

Re: Kos refuses to travel to US for pre season tour
Read somewhere recently that he wants a move back to France on a free so he can negotiate his own contract. The club, however, (and not surprisingly given our financial state) want a fee for him.
Downing tools is becoming the norm these days.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
There was a time far far away in another galaxy when i used to enjoy all the speculation during the transfer windows. But that was when we, as a football club, had a bit of clout and went about our business in a professional manner. We continue to drag our feet over every possible deal as if Wenger ...

Re: The Arsenal captain 2019/20
I think Holding's got a bit about him in order to take on the captaincy but not yet. He needs the best part of next season to establish himself and stay injury free (hopefully). As for Xhaka i would be quite happy for him to be given the captaincy as long as it's for a club "at the next level&q...

Re: Jose Antonio Reyes - RIP
He was a great player but was badly let down by his colleagues at Arsenal . After the Spanish National manager made racists remarks about Henry he was effectively sent to Coventry for not telling the Spanish coach where to go. If you've seen the vid Reyes looks very embarrassed and laughs nervously...

Absolutely terrible news. What a week this is turning out to be but it does put things in perspective. R.I.P. Jose.

Re: Europa League Final Arsenal v Chav$ 29/05 Match Thread
You know what Wilko, I rented my ST out for 4 seasons on the trot and each time it was a different taker. No one wanted it for more than one season....that says it all. Couldn’t find anyone to rent it for the season just finished, so resorted to selling individual games. Probably only sold about ha...

Re: Europa League Final Arsenal v Chav$ 29/05 Match Thread
As usual, it's all been said already. Most of us can accept losing IF, we give it all we've got. I said a few days ago either on this thread, or another, that when I walked out of the stadium after the Paris final, as disappointed as I obviously was, I held my head up, knowing we gave it our best s...

Re: Europa League Final Arsenal v Chav$ 29/05 Match Thread
Shocking 2nd half capitulation and a new low for the club but i doubt anything will change in Wiggy's world as a result. The S/T's will be renewed, tv money will keep rolling in and people will be falling over themselves to buy the new Adidas shirts etc so what's the problem? There's no speculate to...
