Elninny is average as fuck and should not be at a club like Arsenal but he has absolutely pissed all over Pillock and Partey performance-wise on the pitch for us.
Exactly, we desperately need a better core midfield or we are going nowhere fast.

If Xhaka and Bellerin are to stay it needs to be made clear they will not be considered first team players. Bellerin needs to be stripped of the vice captaincy and apparently Xhaka is our '4th captain', a meaningless thing but all the same it needs to be stripped.

Bellerin will likely remain in the first 11 as he is better than Chambers, but Xhaka can sit behind Partey, the new Belgium lad, Elneny and Willock if he stays. Because its no secret we tried to offload him to Roma and Roma were lukewarm at best. If that doesn't speak to Arteta about Xhaka qualities as a player nothing will. Aside form the odd long range missile he really is an average midfielder. If Xhaka stays I think that kills of a the chance to bring in another midfielder. We are not going to get Locatelli or an established midfielder so the question now is who will play alongside Partey. Ill say it right now. Joe Willock

I think selling Willock is a massive error, especially at a piss take 20m which some papers have. Willock scored more goals in half a season that Grealish did in an entire season and Grealsih is supposed to go for over 100m. Those 8 goals in 14 games at Newcastle are a sure sign of promise. He is only 21 and often a young player needs a breakthrough moment to be able to kick on. Thats Willocks breakthrough moment & we should let him try and kick on. Partey to sit an hold, Willock to get up and down, and ESR as the number 10.

Arteta neds to be bold somewhere. Its possible to change the team up without making signings and if we are going to dawdle through this transfer window, then ring the changes on the pitch. The idea of Xhaka and Elneny getting picked ahead of Willock and the Lokonga is depressing. Theres an energetic idea and theory behind giving Willock a place in the first team. But that's the idea picking Xhaka? I just fucking know Arteta will settle into a Partey Xhaka duo.

He isnt a bold manager. He doesnt have any ideas outside what he thinks he 'should' be doing.
Partey and willock in the heart of our midfield, if that's the next level then let's have friendlies against Scarborough and whitley bay cos that's about the right level

100% on the money Lefty. 8)

Fucking Willock, a flash in the pan over 7 games when the season was finished and most teams were totally off the boil. Let's ignore the 80 or so games he played for us where the game just passed him by. And fucking Partey! Almost as inept as Clive ffs. Those two as our centre would be a door open policy on a par with Katie Price's growler!

Your basing your invective against young players like Willock and Nketiah on their performances as inexperienced kids . All young players come through at different rates and it's possible that Willock has stepped up during his loan spell . His scoring record was certainly better .

I don't think any of us expect to see us at the very top of the league but all logically want to see improvement.

We know that we can't sell the likes of Xhaka and Willian so they are stuck at the club. So at least until the January window I would prefer to see Willock play than them and see just how much he has improved or not.

We have both Balogun , Lokonga and Nketiah on the fringes if it means less of Xhaka/ Aubameyang / Willian on the pitch . So be it .

Lacazette for all of his faults plays better with the young ones on the pitch . If we are to ostracise one of the two it would be Auba in my opinion purely because we look better when he is not playing .

We have to accept that nobody is going to take our dross off of our hands for any meaningful amount . We are going to lose money on all of them to get shot , afterall we still have Torriera , Kolasinac and Bellerin all of whom want out . If we get loans for them we will be lucky.

In the mean time we need a keeper more than anywhere else . As much as I don't rate Leno too highly , should he get injured we are completely shafted.
Mate I'm all for giving the kids a chance but Nketiah can't finish his dinner let alone be a major goal contributor, literally every goal that he does score I'd either off his shin of his left testicle and that's from 2 yards out.

We are Arsenal not saints, we can't be giving championship (at best) level players chance after chance when they've clearly shown they're not good enough.

I want every player that puts on an Arsenal shirt to succeed and be a great player but when they're not good enough just sell them on.

DB 10 sorry if I don't follow the general concensus , I try to be reasonably level headed about my comments but if I have offended I am sorry , However expecting the finished article at 20 years old is naive , he was sent out to get the experience , he now has it and i think we need to reset our ideas .
We are not in any position to go and buy the tailor made solution until we either sell or reduce the obscene wages on the failures we are stuck with.
We have little option but to see how these young players perform in what is becoming a young squad that will grow together.

We waited TWELVE years for Theo Walcott to fulfil his potential. And he never did. But we were paying him 100k per week.... Lefty is right, there's a time to just let the kid go.

No offence taken mate. I agree with most of what you post. I just don't agree on Willock. I'd love to be wrong though.....

Willock is 21, why would anyone judge a 21 year old on past performance? His most recent performance was goal every second game over the course of half a season at Newcastle. What if this is Willock maturing as a footballer. Perhaps his Newcastle stint was just temporary form but we have been in this situation before of only realising we had a great player only after they left. Gnabry was out loan at West Brom and within 18 months was in the Bayern first team. I dont want to see Willock go to Man United or Man City via Newcastle because we threw him away too early because we judged his performances for us only during his teenage years. Delle Alli's first two years at Spurs were incredible, moving from MK dons League 1 aged 20. So what if he has gone of the boil lately, the point is players under the age of 21 can mature almost overnight.

Selling Willock will come back to haunt us. I saw the writing on the wall with Gnabry in real time. I Knew Wenger was fuking up not preferring Gnabry to Walcott. I knew Pulis was a knob for benching him at West Brom. The Willock bashers could end up one on the wrong side of one of the biggest transfer fucks ups in recent history. Were talking about an English footballer who are priced at premiums. If We sell Willock to Newcastle and he scored 15-20 league goals in back to back seasons. Then he will be linked to a massive move to City, just as Grealish is today. And it can be added to the list of player recruitment/retention fuck ups this club specialises in

At least he is there to get them and they all count. I'm not saying that they are the answer long term but in the present market the only clubs with money to buy are the ones that are heavily subsidised and they don't want to buy them.
We have made a habit of giving players away and have been a soft touch in the market for too long . It's time to maximise on our assets . These kids are premium players being English . If we have to sell them when the market has recovered in a few years .

What you are totally missing there is that EVERYBODY saw Gnabry had it, except Wenger. It's that street smarts and confidence and vision and natural ability and instinct and extra something that is hard to quantify that cannot be taught. Willock showed in 80 appearances he doesn't have it. Just like JET and Comedy Iwobi and Frimpong and numerous others we wasted time on. He also did not show great form over a half season at the toon - he scored most of his goals in a glut of 7 or 8 games in a three or four week period. And if I remember correctly he had no assists there as a midfielder.... Willock may go on to have a decent enough career in football but it will not be at a big club in a top league.

Just Like Martinelli - He's got them in spades but our dullard cunnt of a manager can't see it, or if he does - then he must just dislike the kid. Either ways FUCKK OFF Arteta you CAAAANT!.

Don't forget the screamer Willock scored against Liverpool. I've seen that used as justification to keep him a couple of times on here.

I'm with DB10. In 80 odd appearances Willock has shown me nothing more than to be an average player for his age that will end up having a career with the likes of Newcastle etc.

His goals for the Geordies were mostly tap ins and one was a rebound from a particularly shit penalty he took.

Also, as DB said, it took no great footballing nouse to see that Gnabry was a player with proper potential. It's ridiculous to use him as an example of previous mistakes.

Lautaro Martinez wants 100k pw, Inter can't afford that. We'd treble his money (he's on 60k) no worries, even if he doesn't do a thing. We're used to that.

Lautaro Martinez would be a dream signing, but I can't see it being remotely true.
