European Football Weekends

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

European Football Weekends

I've been reading through this blog for the past few days & it's excellent. It's basically written by a bunch of blokes who jet off to random places in Europe at weekends & take in a match, beer & the local culture for a day or two - sounds fucking fantastic!

I've pretty much only really ever been interested in going to matches that involve Arsenal but i'm finding myself increasingly fed up with watching footy at the E******s & just in England in general, it's overpriced & so dull & lifeless in the stands it's beyond a joke. The Boca fans yesterday made me sad, why can't we have that much fun?!

Cologne was excellent, I expect Benfica next week should be fairly lively & Legia Warsaw last summer was top drawer. CL aways are not bad but fairly commercialised for the most part, unless you get a few moody teams in the groups. Anyway, i love traveling to obscure places & i'd really like to try & get to a few more games on the continent/Eastern Europe in the next year or so, where the grip of UEFA & commercialisation hasn't fully taken hold & atmospheres are still rowdy.

Top of my list would be...

- Thessaloniki derby, Aris vs PAOK
- Croatia "derby", Hajduk Split vs Dinamo Zagreb
- Belgrade derby, Partizan vs Red Star

Anyone else totally fed up of the English "matchday experience"?!
