THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I see there is weak attempts being made to make him seem likebale with some of the quotes being released. He talks about always being a fan of the club - yet if he doesn't go to Baku, that's 0 games he has attended since being sacked last season. Then he talks about being concerned for the fans travelling to Baku - the same guy who pontificated about ticket prices and blamed fans for defeats, is now concerned. Go run for office Arsene, you'd be a great politician with that double speak.

Have seen a few snippets and it’s fucked my Friday before it’s even begun. Look at the absolute shambolic state of the club he left behind and yet the same simpletons still lap up his every word.

Have seen so many “I miss Arsene” and “I swear I’m not crying reading this” comments this morning.

Absolute scum of the earth brainless fucktards.

They’d have him back in the morning you know :banghead:

he has obviously been paid by the club for this year, and so hasn't felt the need to return to management.
that is coming to an end now, so he has decided to let people know he is still around/alive, but it is obvious that no one is going to employ him, so he is trying to spin a new direction he is taking :banghead:

Deluded and arrogant, and thinks everyone falls for his bullshit "I thought maybe take a little distance" - yeh right. Either its part of the £10 million payoff/ bung or no one has been in touch. I half expect him to stand for leader of the Conservative party.

His whole entourage cost us £17M to get rid of so don't let him off the extra £7M. Conservative party.....nah, not with his socialist wage structure

Yeah this really pisses me off ... hearing him talking about taken a year ... doing ''some charity work'' ... that greedy fucker has pocketed another £10m in the last year !! That's almost £10m more than I've earned!

that wasn't his narrative in November, then it was " i will be managing somewhere in January" .....errrr nope.

As soon as i saw the BBC headline that he will return to football but probably not as a manager, i was like no shit Sherlock.

my question is - what club would take the risk to make him kitman ? - he's too old for a ballboy surely ?

he's a total fucktard. :banghead:

November 1 2018

Arsene Wenger says he will be back in management at the start of 2019 - but he does not know where yet.

The 69-year old, who ended his 22-year reign at Arsenal at the end of last season, is looking forward to returning to the game.

Asked when he would be back in management, the Frenchman said: "At the beginning of the year."

this is a beaut :

ARSENE WENGER could manage in the Premier League again despite his associations with former club Arsenal.

That is according to former Arsenal winger Robert Pires, who played for six years under Wenger.

Wenger has announced he is ready to return to management after leaving the Gunners at the end of last season.

The 68-year-old says he has had many offers from around the world and expects to be in a new job on January 1.

I believe I will start again on January 1,” Wenger told German newspaper Bild.

“I don’t know where yet. I feel rested and am ready to work again.

“There are associations, national teams, it could also be in Japan.

There are enquiries from all over the world.”
pure revisionism again from TOF.

Definitely. Emery joined us on May 23, 2018, and yesterday was his one-year anniversary - so likely the end of Wenger's salary / gardening leave too. The fact that this interview pops up the very next morning is no coincidence.

And all that stuff about him being an Arsenal fan is a load of bollocks too. Did he once ever wish Emery luck when he took over the role? Nope, he threw his toys out of the pram because fans didn't appreciate him and he stormed off in a huff. Now he's acting like he's the bigger man.

Yeah but the question has to be..... if he hadn't inherited the side (particularly the defence) that he did what would he have achieved. He repeatedly showed himself to be incapable of building a defence. Had he inherited a defence that was equivalent to his own average standard would he have won a thing. We made him not the other way around. Whatever people may think of David Dein now, he was at the club during that period and very much involved in what went on.
