What genius put quinny in a 5 a side indoor team ?
They were 2 fine goals to be fair Does anybody else remember the story about athletico Madrid offering 250k for merse back then ? I remember watching one of these tournaments and they reported the Spanish clubs bid and I don't think merse had even played first team football at that stage or if he had then he had played fcuk all. Don't think the Spanish lifestyle would have suited merse - spending all afternoon in the boozer what you are meant to be ha vine a siesta mightn't be the best thing to do

How good does that kit look compared to todays monstrosity? I had a video somewhere of the likes of a young Paul Davis and Chris Whyte playing in that green and blue kit and even that kit looks appealling to me now in comparison (not the hooped socks though).
6 a-side was a big thing during the 80s. We played it at school and even Subbuteo brought out a smaller indoor pitch. Only seems to be veterans that play it now rather than youngsters.
Im surprised Wenger doesnt wanna us to play it seeing as its his type of game. Short passing, no long balls and only one defender. Bit too much tempo for him though by the look of that clip.

In four words 'Gus Caesar was shit'. Nice to be reminded of it though - same year the useless twat cost us the League Cup against Luton at Wembley. A day to match the depression of the Birmingham lossTop Londoner wrote:In one word, basement.

Didn't Arsenal beat Man U in 1988 in a tournament final for teams that finished in "European Qualification " places ?. Final played on a Sunday at Villa Park. Another reminder of what Liverpool done to English football. The indoor tournaments were great , but can you imagine the moaning if players were asked to do it today?

As bad as Caesar was ... he was still blatantly fouled before Luton's equaliser in that final. It remains one of the most scandalous trophy denying decisions I've seen but it hardly ever gets a mention.SteveO 35 wrote:
