So, if we had 70+ million to spend, who do people want us to buy?

I'd make a top striker our priority, but I've no idea who we could get, so I'd go for Javi Martinez.

I know nothing about him, but I'd love it if we had a player called Bas Dost. The last seven letters in the scrabble bag.
Having a player called bas dost would do my head in...

I keep seeing das boot! :banghead:

Marco Reus and stick him at number 9. Martinez is a great shout too.
Still, I wonder if Cech will get a game ahead of Ospina (as one poster asked on here :lol))

Thank God we have Ichybaba to tell us which striker to buy. We would have never known otherwise. :barscarf:

I would love to have Reus at Arsenal but think he would be adding to the "much of the same" AMs we already have.

I would like Javi Martinez and a good striker......please Arsene.

Poldi off to Turkey for 2.5 million quid. I know he's 30, is it the last year of his contract? Even so that's a bit paltry in this day and age.

It is, but I guess his 100k wages limit the number of interested clubs.

He seemed to be a top bloke, but unfortunately he never quite did it for us (or Inter). I wish him luck though.

Podolski was wasted on Wenger..clinical striker banished to Wenger's hell on the left wing while Wenger's apologists told us postman Yaya would come good. We had a proven international on our books, he may not have been an Aguerro or a Suarez but he certainly was a step up on some of the strikers we had/have. I find Podolski's stay at Arsenal to have been one of complete frustration. Just imagine how a proven German international felt seeing a supposed top class manager placed more faith in a would be postman. :banghead:

Poldi didn't suit playing up top on his own. He didn't have the work rate. I remember a couple of times when he played there and he couldn't hold the ball up, nor have the movement to play off the last man. We would have had to change our entire system to play him there and he isn't good enough to alter an entire system to get him playing with two strikers. I'd say that his entire career has been much the same, doesn't cut it at the big clubs, so to label him as being misused by Wenger - I think that you could level those charges at other managers who saw him in the same light.

Failing that, what about Pedro?

Podolski would suit the old fashioned inside left postion,a position that needs intelligent runs less intense than the wing and with a deadly finish like Pods hed be awesome, unfortunatley about 30 years too late for him though.i wish Podolski all the luck elsewhere,as stated above his time with us was one of frustration for him and us,id have loved him to have been a regular ,the guy loved being an Arsenal man,how many players can you say that about these days?

Podolski had already been at the club at year when Sanago turned up. I thought Podolski was a great signing at first but the guy wasn't good enough. Did you see how he got on at Inter over the last few months? There's a reason he's off to Galatasaray.

I see it's being reported in various places that Arsenal are in talks with Pedro. Oh but wait...Kiwomya claimed his new contract meant he couldn't be sold!
Just as Cech was never coming as it was "media invention", and besides, Cech "wouldn't be guaranteed" a spot ahead of Ospina

100%. I'll always feel we didn't get anywhere near what we could and should have out of Pod. Wenger absolutely misused him. I maintain he would have been lethal played up front in a 4-4-2. To see the Postman SaNoGoals selected repeatedly ahead of Pod was criminal. But tbh if Wenger isn't going to use him to the best of his ability then we might as well cut and run and let him get on with his career. :|

Eduardo was treated the same way for most of his Arsenal career. Even before his injury when his finishing was clinical, he still spent most games on the left wing.

Arsenal's lone striker system doesn't suit a fox-in-the-box type player . No doubt Inzaghi or Fowler would have been on the wing for us too.

I don't have a problem with playing a lone striker, but it's a specialist role that Drogba, RVP and Diego Costa thrive on, so either sign a specialist (difficult) or adapt your system for the players you've got and the players you sign.

(or quit and give another manager a chance :D )
