Most shambolic performance

Post by SteveO 35 »

Listed the ones I can remember that stick out the most in recent memory although I will accept there are plenty more to come

I'm voting for today's debacle. In all of the other ones we either played well in spells (first half Newcastle), had some form of mitigating circumstances (sending off etc) or were playing a weakened side either through choice or through injuries.

Today we pitched up with virtually a full strength team playing the worst Man Ure side in 2 decades and one where the manager clings to his job by a thread.

4-4 against Newcastle was pretty shit, especially being 4-0 up :D :D

You can add that fucking 4-4 draw against Tottenham at home to your list as well.

For me nothing, even today could surpass the 8-2.

So many to choose from!

For me it's the 8-2. To concede 8 goals is amateurish. And the way our players grinned and joked with the manc afterwards was appalling. If my Sunday league team conceded 8 there would be a punch up in the changing room afterwards.

8-2 for me, though the 4 0 in Milan comes close.

We won't ever be more shambolic than that 8-2.

That said today's performance is probably the biggest statement we have ever made that this team is incapable of winning titles.

We have been spoilt by having such a list of ineptitude performances by the utter shit that put on a red shirt and get paid £££££s a week to under perform. The choice is difficult but in the end the 8-2 with the two heifers with the banner just tips it over the edge. :banghead:

Thank you Steve for furthur ruining my evening.

For me its the 4-4. No team should ever let that happen. The 8-2 was awful agree, but there were exceptional mental strength and physicality issues that day  , but the game was bad all the way through- same with the Victims and Chav games, but to get the hope up at 4-0 to see it dashed so so badly was just too much.

Barcodes 4-4 for me. I was utterly shellshocked. After that I could believe anything.

This thread should be renamed as the most accidental performance :)

The 8-2 has to be the worst. what hurt that day was the genuine pity in Ferguson's voice after the game. he had stopped hating Arsenal because we were no longer their equals.. I feared a hammering before the game given the team we were sending up there following an abject performance at home to Liverpool. But nothing prepared me for what happened.

I'm going to make the most stupidly obvious observation ..the personnel changed in all those listed games , the manager didn't.

4-4 Newcastle and as an addendum I'll add the 1-1 vs Liverpool when we let them score in the 101st minute in that season. Another season where we fucked the league and showed absolutely zero bottle.

Today 3-2.

We're in a 'title chase' Where the favorites outside of us were T*ttenham and Leicester City.

In the past including the 8-2 we had shocking teams. 4-4 is right up there though. 8-2 had me the most irate I have ever been watching a football match though.
