ESPN say there had been growing discontent at the way transfers were being run at the club, with an investigation launched into whether #Arsenal overpaid when they bought Nicholas Pepe for £72m.
https://t.co/xFMOudnS0N
In my view we paid about £60 million over the top for Pepe!!
Fuck Raul and good riddance!

Agreed and that is why I asked couple of weeks ago if it was a straight £72m fee or if that was including bonuses for reaching certain targets (appearances, goals, assists, top 4 etc). If the price was a much lower basic fee topped up with add ons, then there might exist the possibility of selling him with a reasonable price tag this summer without losing serious money - if the initial price was high then there is zero chance we can move him on without taking a massive financial hit, and we are not in a position to take a hit. Of course even if we can afford to sell him for a reasonable fee, chances are that he is on a big wedge and wont take a pay cut to go elsewhere

We really need some stability if the club is to move forward, will these 'departures (Sanhelli and Hussy), provide it? We seem to lurch from crisis to crisis and nothing improves. We can but hope Vinai and Edu can stabilise things but with the links between Edu and Kai Whathisname in question it worries me where all this is headed :rubchin:
Maybe Edu is next out the door

I think the manager should have more say if I'm honest - the only problem that there is with the manager having majority power, is that the club will of course buy players that suit his system, and if the next manager doesnt use the same system then we need another overhaul

Thing is Augie, that’s the best recipe for success, a manager in it for the long haul and building his own squad!
Hopefully we might be on the way to that formula once more

If that’s the case then fair play to Arteta - he wasn’t my choice by any means, but I think he is tactically astute and has a clear vision of what he wants on the pitch and the players he believes are the right fit to do that and therefore should be allowed to have his shopping list rather than be given players chosen by Raul / Edu or whoever.

There were reports that it was Arteta as a player, who orchestrated our away win 2-0 at City a few years back when the players overruled Wenker.

I can also recall a home match v West Ham when everything, and I mean everything, was being played up to Andy Carrol ( up against Koscielny I believe) to chest down and lay off again and we simply could not cope, Arteta dropped deeper, played just in front of Carrol and completely shut down that option for them - I have no idea If he did It of his own accord or was under instruction, but he did it very effectively.

It’s hard for me to think of Arteta as an Arsenal great, I view him much more as an Everton player, despite the fact he played here for a few years and captained the club to FA cup victory ( and now mirrored that as a manager , which is no mean feat ) On the pitch he was far too cautious, playing backwards and sideways passing for my liking.

However, he is our manager for the foreseeable future, has already won a trophy, and looks like he is shaking up the first team, which has needed doing for years ( Emery started to as well to be fair ), by all accounts he has somehow become an Arsenal man during his short stint with us, so I wish him well and every success :barscarf: but he will need the backing of not only the board and staff here but most importantly Kroenke with the financial backing to put us back in the upper echelons.

We are still due Lille £52M for Pepe having paid £20M upfront so we have been well and truly screwed with this deal.

If Pepe really was a £72M player then why on earth was he satisfied with a wage similar to Kolasinac's. I have seen Pepe's wages quoted in the press at £105K per week and also at £140k. In this day and age if I was a £72M player then I'd be expecting to get in the region of £200k per week. It just strikes me as a bit odd.

Whichever way you look at it Lille must be well and truly pissing themselves over this. We really do need to stop buying players from Ligue 1.

So the King is dead long live the King !
There are only 2 or 3 reasons I can see !
1. he's been caught with his fingers in the till
2. He has clashed with Arteta and has lost !
3. Josh finally realised he was an overpaid clown who knows nothing about football and decided to save money for daddy by binning him and fahmy !

You can be sure he didn't resign, look at the clubs statement it smacks of a scaking !

Personally I'm very pleased he was a complete fraud ,something we specialise in !
Sanhelli modern day George Graham. Arsenal recruited a corporate lawyer Tim Lewis from Clifford Chance in July, wouldn't be surprised if he's looked into Raul's transfer dealings and found some dodgy stuff. Especially with the Pepe Transfer.

Does it never end at Arsenal, in probably the most crucial transfer window in our recent history.
A bit disrespectful to George comparing him to this bloke. At least GG delivered some absolutely unforgettable memories for us! What did this nobody achieve?
