The Leavers Thread

Post by SPUDMASHER »

Just thinking about those that have left the club recently. I’m not the type of person who automatically hates anyone that leaves Arsenal. At the moment it would be difficult to blame anyone for wanting away.
Take Wally for example. He was a real top prospect who had a good part of his career destroyed by Wenger. Yes you can say he was happy to keep taking the dollar but nonetheless he could have been much more. Even Lord Bendtner would probably had a better career if he hadn’t spent most of the time out on the wing. He was a striker not a winger. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to suggest any of them would definitely have been world class. But how much better could they have been.
So what’s the point of this post then? Well there is a part of me that hopes that Wally, Giroud, Sanchez and even the Ox do really well and we get to see, even if from a distance, their potential being realised.
Surely that must then show the rest of the world what we already know.......

WENGER FUCKS CAREERS UP. Avoid him at all cost!

Player Development Wenger's main flaw. (Copy of leavers thread )

Post by Step »

In this transfer window we have lost 3 players who will go on to prove at their new clubs that they are quality players who were totally mismanaged by our deluded leader.
- Sanchez No denying his quality whilst at Arsenal but guess what he tired of Wenger's limitations.
- Walcott A great prospect when he joined who once again failed to develop under Wenger. Watch him go at Everton
- Giroud Our only plan B. With the supply he will get at Chelski he will thrive.

Oh and The Ox. He left despite being offered far more money by Arsenal.

Clearly the players can see through Wenger's limitations and lack of technical awareness.

This has been a truly dreadful transfer window and the new signings will soon see what a mistake they have made.

The priority was surely a proper defensive midfielder and a proper hardened defender.

Don't worry though 'Arsene Knows'.

Let's look forward to the next 2 years of under achievement.

No way has this been a truly dreadful transfer window -

1. We got rid of average/shite players like wally, giroud and coquelin, and a few others have apparently gone out on loan this evening - the reality is that sometimes to progress you need to go backwards and start all over again, and we had far too many mediocre players that were always gonna be an obstacle if the club want to be contenders again. I made the point on here a few years ago that wenker has been busy buying players to supplement the squad, when he first should have been making the first 11 stronger. Alex Scott (the sexy chic that plays for Arsenal Ladies) said on ssn this evening that these deals have made the team much stronger, and that should always be the main priority

2. We have also got a quality striker in the henry/anelka mould - when we were dominating a decade ago, we played with real pace and power, and strikers like rvp/podolski/giroud do not have the skill set to play that way. Of course these days we play with a midfield that has shown fcuk all ability to play fast direct football, and if ramsey, xhaka et al are allowed to continue pissing around with sidewards passes, then we will never maximise the talents of our new striker - however IF we change our strategy, then we will scare teams like we used to back in the day

3. I am one of those that believes that wenker's power has been hugely usurped with these transfer dealings - maybe we are wrong and wenker was the one pushing these deals, but it just feels that the new power brokers have taken charge and discarded average players from the squad and purchased quality to replace them, and reducing wenkers power makes it a massive success imo

Saying all that, you are of course 100% correct when you say that a cdm and centre back should have been the absolute priorities

There will never be real progress with the analogue watch in charge in a digital world. Its the same coaching set up all doffing their cap to him - so even talented players will come in and find themselves having to fit in to the Wenger way. We took Podolski who was an out and out box player and one of the most natural finishers in world football, and Shit for Brains had him playing left midfield half the time. He's spunked 50m on Joe L'Average and another 50m+ on Aubameyang - he won't play 2 strikers and he won't admit he made a monumental fuck up with the first one, so he'll be shunted out wide too

And so it should. Only a couple of hours after a similar one was started.

well done Theo - keep banging them in.

the more he scores the more it tarnishes Wenger's legacy of being a good coach.

What's the point of letting Wenger waste 80-100m failing to buy decent versions of those two? He'd shell out on crap like Xhaka and Gabriel again.

Save the cash and let's wait until he goes to spend. Just try and get a decent keeper.

In the space of two games he's on the same amount of goals and half way in assists to Iwobi's season total.

I'm not saying either of them are good enough for The Arsenal, but given the choice...

Gabriel was not as bad as painted , In his time at Vilareal he was highly rated and now that he is at Valencia they are third in La Liga above his old club and Real Madrid . Like many at our place he was shunted all over the back line but rarely got to play in a central position. It all went wrong for him after the Diego Costa debacle, Wenger never trusted him again , with a little more coaching ( which they all need ), he would have been a respectable centre back if not first choice but as a defensive cover.

As for Lacazette he is now spending more time out of the box joining in the passing tedium . This is not what a on the shoulder centre forward does and consequencely his scoring rate has gone down . Like many others before him Wengerball is their ruination .
Surely if you buy a player you form a system to utilise their strong parts. Play the ball to Lacazette quickly , he is strong enough to turn defenders and shoot. Had we actually played to Giroud's strength and put in crosses he would have fed off of them and players around him could pick up the pieces.
These guys are not bad players but they have been playing for an incompetant manager that fails to get the best from his charges.

We All Know 100% that Wenger Destroys Players and Ruins Careers, he is a selfish arrogant, delusional C.U.N.T who should never be allowed near a football game/ground once he is dragged screaming from his big oak desk at the bowl and thrown into the streets. fuckk him.

As for the leavers - Everything that has already been said (above) I agree with...Besides the youngsters that have come in with HUGE potential only to be completely demoralised, to the point where they fear their own shadow and are afraid to kick a ball, he has also destroyed other quality players Arshavin - remember him - he arrived scored FOUR goals each of which was sublime, but within 2 months he was side-lined and played totally out of his favoured and most effective position by TOF...then there was Gabriel - Not world class but had good quality - then the "Wenger Virus" got him...funny how he has improved since leaving.....etc etc etc

After an era of players careers tanking after leaving us, it will be interesting to see how these players will develop, granted that they are largely bang average anyway. They will finally have some decent coaching for once, which can only help them. It will be interesting to hear their implied perspectives on how 'different' the 'coaching' was at Arsenal under The Old Fraud.

He did really well at Villareal. However, they were a team that was clearly well-coached. All the players knew their roles and their defensive shape was strong. He was a basic, no-nonsense, hard defender, akin to a Bould type; mark tightly, give forwards the odd kick and get the fucking ball out of the danger area.
Now he's at Valencia he's doing a decent job again.

I wonder what went wrong at Arsenal? :hmmthink:

As i said elsewhere even Scezsny (I can never spell his name) is buiding a decent reputation at Juve, another player who if coached properly and man managed correctly at our club could well have been a very good goalkeeper.

One of the enduring legacies of the post Invincibles period of AWs reign is the pure dilution of talent in some of the prospects and already high profile players which he has 'managed' and as pointed out above it is down to his pure bull headed arrogance. He managed to 'convert' one player from a winger to an excellent striker and it went to his head, in his mind he could never be wrong after that.

The number of players that man has played out of their favoured position and made them worse is criminal and as Spuddy said i hold no ill feeling to those who have chosen to revitalise their careers at other clubs. Fortunately for them they are not invested heart and soul in the Arsenal and can move on, unfortunately for us we can't :rubchin:
