What we are having to do is prioritise shipping out crap. Whilst we do that the top talent goes elsewhere.

An ex chav on the wrong side of 30 available on a free transfer. Exactly the type of deal we should not be doing even as a backup option.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
To be fair, fighting for a place at Leicester (who have more games as they’re in Europe) is far better than having no hope of playing unless Tierney is injured and there’s no European games at Arsenal either.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 3:32 pmWhilst we dither, others dare to crack on. We don’t want to be signing Bertrand. We did that last season signing Cedric. We want an understudy like Doig from Hibs. This might be a sign that we are learning if we have passed on Bertrand.

#AFC | Arsenal have NOT made a bid for Emi Buendia as yet.
Talks have taken place with the players' agents, but nothing more than that so far.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
This summer is a real crossroads for Arsenal. Covid and the current financial problems have meant that basically, transfer prices have been reset to figures of about 5 years ago. Teams like Arsenal who need at least 5 good players would have had to spend somewhere around £300m two years ago to bring in 5 very good players, now you can sign good players for £20-30m. This is a massive opportunity that is not likely to exist one year from now. It makes more sense than ever for Wiggy to stump up 100m for transfers (as well as raising another 80m+ from sales hopefully), as Arsenal could be transformed into a ‘good’ squad in one window.
Is there anyone with a brain in our management team at Arsenal who can see this opportunity I wonder? Fail to take this chance and Arsenal will be mid-table for the next 10 years at least. It will be interesting.
On a side issue, if we manage to get rid of Luiz, Willian, Xhaka and Bellend in one window it will be the best window since we signed Bergkamp!!

The Mail claim Raheem Sterling & Riyad Mahrez are up for sale this summer & #Arsenal are interested in signing both wingers. https://t.co/820Axqgo87

Now that would be the Arsenal we know and love, taking someone else's cast offs. We have plenty of talent in their positions who we should be concentrating on developing. Neither Sterling or Mahrez will be cheap, and if i'm totally honest i don't really like either playermcdowell42 wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 11:03 pmThe Mail claim Raheem Sterling & Riyad Mahrez are up for sale this summer & #Arsenal are interested in signing both wingers. https://t.co/820Axqgo87

If the only three players we signed are Mat Ryan Aarons and Bissouma I'd be happy.
They'd improve our starting eleven.
Ship out the likes of Willian, Xhaka, Bellerin, Elneny, Kolasinac, and Aubameyang (maybe?), get a proper manager then we'd be stronger.

Tierney is injured a lot though isn't he.g88ner wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 4:50 pmTo be fair, fighting for a place at Leicester (who have more games as they’re in Europe) is far better than having no hope of playing unless Tierney is injured and there’s no European games at Arsenal either.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 3:32 pmWhilst we dither, others dare to crack on. I agree about the lack of games though- exactly my point why all this nonsense about it somehow being good for us to not be in Europe is exactly that. If you're not one of El Beige's favourites you won't get any opportunity to play.

According to @Santi_J_FM, talks over Matteo Guendouzi’s transfer are progressing well between Marseille & #Arsenal. The player is attracted by the idea of playing under Jorge Sampaoli. https://t.co/jUR3DpSPZd
Guendouzi has been approached by a dozen European clubs including Villarreal, Valencia, Real Betis & Brighton. https://t.co/JCyyGA7YFh

The Athletic say at centre-back, much will depend on Arteta’s assessment of William Saliba. Until then Arsenal will continue to monitor the market for centre-backs. #Arsenal covet Sevilla’s Jules Kounde & are seriously interested in Edmond Tapsoba. https://t.co/AAyK8kTgTu

Martin Ødegaard is Arsenal’s #1 target, having made a big impression, not just on account of his technical quality, but also his character & leadership credentials. The situation is not in Arsenal’s hands & the resignation of Zinedine Zidane complicates matters. [@TheAthleticUK]
