I still think Dick should be given until May to show if he can deliver - particularly if we can get Tierney Bellend and Holding in and playing well. That change in defence could be huge for us. But then his persisting with Captain Cuntastic Xhakatard will probably negate any benefits from getting the defence sorted.

Still I've never been a fan of panic changing managers mid season. It smacks of what the little clubs do - your stokes, your Boltons, your tottnumbs, your chelseas etc.

Hardly a panic change DB, he has shown nothing, absolutely diddly squat in 14months and sticking with him until May will only succeed in ensuring we miss out on clge football next season.
I’ve no idea who we should appoint, but I’d even go with an internal temporary solution, whilst a full time alternative can be sourced.
Talk of bellerin and chambers turning things around is nonsense, before his injury most posters on here wanted him offloaded! Although I dont include myself in that.
The problem is Emery, tactics, style of play, team selection, indecision!

Also, I cant believe I am seeing or hearing some arsenal fans saying they would prefer Wenger back or even that Wenger would do better with this squad. Whats the point in saying this?

If Wenger had stayed I doubt we'd even have this squad either, as flawed and unbalanced as it still is. We'd be plodding along with another couple of deadwood signings and persisting with the overpaid dross that he specialised in.

If Emery isnt good enough, which is looking increasingly the case, then blame Wenger for that too! Because if he'd left us earlier ... or in a better position ... then we would have been able to get a better manager than Emery.

This cup team seems to be capable of following Emery's instructions properly. Even passing it out from the back didn't look as hazardous as the normal starting back four. The difference I noticed was that they rarely played it across the penalty area and played it forward more. Cellabos picking he ball up off the CB's more effective than Xhaka. Torreira gave the ball away a few times but fortunately the midfield did its job properly.

It's either one of three things, the usual starting defence and midfield are incapable of following the managers instructions, or he yields more influence over the young players eager and hungry to play in the premier league, or, he's more comfortable managing in European and cup competitions than he is in league matches. If it is the latter how about the club take the innovative step of having a first team coach for league games and another for european/ cup games. With games every 3-4 days maybe this is the way forward.

Or maybe it is down to the fact that the opposition in those cup games in nowhere near premier league level and sit off us more and are afraid to squeeze up on us ? I like watching the cup teams with the younger players in it but we have to be realistic about the quality of the teams they are facing

I'm also hoping that 3 of the 4 defenders last night will end up in the first team sooner rather than later.

it is looking hopeful with the players coming through, we just need to ship Ozil out as soon as possible.
other than him there seems to be a good attitude within the squad.

my only other concern this season is Pepe - he is just bloody useless, havent seen him justify a penny of his £72 million so far.
a real worry that we have wasted so much money on him.

I liked Dicks answer just now about why Ozil did not play last night - the youngsters deserved it more and must be given their chances.

He also said Ozil needs to keep working- I think he meant harder...

So to me, it looks like Ozil has gone the way of Mustafi - given cup games to prove himself once he impresses in training.

I think it will be tough for him to get back in and stay in - in the book on Dick, he says that his methods either motivate older players or they don’t and he moves them on, regardless of wages or reputation.

No he's not, but when I read or hear fans say that they are pining for the French cock it makes my piss boil - emery is not the man to take us forward and without doubt we are underperforming, but let's not lose sight of the fact that we have lost one league game so far this season. Emery' football has now regressed to the boring level of wenger, but let's not lose sight that when we had winger we had a man who demanded (and got) total control of the club, so we would still have ozil and his other overpaid average shite in the team if he was still here

That was exactly what I was thinking, there are other sides with more shit going on than at our club and as a result, we are right behind city with a top 4 place there for the taking. Whether you like Emery or not, if he delivers top 4 the club won't get rid of him.

Comparing Emery with Wenger is understandable though, it would appear that Emery is very stubborn with certain things like backing Xhaka for captain even though he makes mistakes on the pitch every game.

With regards to the football, we can't have it both ways and I was happy with a dull 1-0 win and relative stability in defence over the chaos we saw vs Villa.
