As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Dermot Gallagher reviewing the latest wan.ky VAR cock up that was Sterling's offside call and said it was clearly off. There is no way of telling whether he is off or not as it's that close. VAR is not the problem it's little ref cu.nts like Gallagher who are the problem.
For me VAR is very much the problem. The entire premise behind VAR is that refereeing mistakes are now a thing of the past, but we are still seeing tonnes of mistakes get past VAR. The only difference now is we have to wait minutes for that mistake. It's killing the game as a spectacle.
Not for me mate. VAR is just a bit of fancy kit, it's how you chose to use it. Refs are having a great old time drawing lines across the pitch and stating that a players left nutsack is offside. Take it the fu.ck away from idiots like them and get somebody with half a brain in to use it. It's not difficult to realise that you simply reverse the law so that if any part of the attacker is level with any part of the defender then he is onside. That's the whole offside issue solved in one go and the benefit correctly imo given to the attacker.
That only addresses the offside issue not the VAR issue though. The VAR issue impacts on fouls hand balls etc as well as offside. Also that offside idea would actually lead to thd same silly shit with lines and mistakes anyway while they try to figure out if any part was level.....
For me if we have to have this VAR shit (and I'd rather not at all tbh) then make it a case of one VAR request per half per manager so the game can flow again.
Fuck no, we're not tennis or cricket
Go and get your eyes tested you old git and you'll be able to see whether a forward is onside - benefit of any doubt to the attacker. If they can tell that matey's ballbag is offside then that means that other parts of the attacker are level......very simple, problem solved
By the way Lovern has form in going over easy, won a very soft penalty against Arsenal at Anfield last season.
Felt a hand on his back and went over immediately.
Gallagher said that was a penalty that day. Gallagher will not go off the Sky script about Liverpool..

You'd rather we turn into rugby.....?
The point though is it's not my eyes that need to see the offside. It's still open to human error and if you honestly think these idiots will get those calls right under your proposed system you are indeed an optimist - or a lunatic!
For me I'd rather live with the referees and linos mistakes than have these constant stoppages and delays while we wait for some gobshite in a room somewhere to get the decision wrong anyway! It's the VAR delays that are killing the game as a spectacle. Having to wait 2 to 5 mintues to celebrate a goal because some cùnt might spot some minor infringement way back at the beginning of the move is soul destroying.
Either shit can this stupidity or limit it's negative impact by giving the managers a couple of calls per game and that's it.
Offside is like being dead, you are or you are not. VAR could, if used properly, clear up the marginal calls. Honestly think there is no other benefit to the game from it. Every review , whether on TV or by the VAR official ,is subjective. Maybe it is easy to say but it genuinely seems these reviews, especially by the likes of Gallagher and Walton, are loaded in favour of certain teams.
As for managers having a challenge per game. No thanks, imagine your team are chasing a late equaliser or winner. They are on top and have momentum. The manager's challenge becomes tactical and is used to kill the game.
Also what happens for example in a situation like the ending of the Invincibles at Old Trafford. Poor Arsene would have gone demented as his challange would have been gone from about the fifth minute.
VAR isn't working, scrap it with the exception of offside decisions.

I assumed with this ''one challenge per half'' suggestion or whatever it is that it would work like it does in tennis? i.e. if you challenge and it was shown to be the right call then you do not lose that challenge? Not too keen on the idea myself but I would favour that to the current situation which is a farce!
Ofc ourse with a properly managed VAR system in place at OT in 2004 we would have seen Ferdinand sent off for a profession foul, RVN sent off for a knee high challenge on Cole, Rooney booked for diving and at least one of the Neville's given 2 yellows for persisting fouling on Reyes. On the other hand, if Mike fucking Riley wasnt such a coward we would have seen all that happen without VAR

But they are already proving that they can operate under "my proposed system" All I am saying is that these marginal calls - his right big toe was offside - that they love to make simply mean that part of the attacker was level with the defender and thus onside. All those stupid decisions where the dickheads in the VAR room call it offside because of part of a body being offside are immediately negated. It would also make it easier and quicker to make the more straightforward calls because the decision is shifted in favour of the attacker. There aren't that many Laca at Stoke offside calls so they would be the one that might take a minute or two but in pretty much all those decisions part of the attacker is level...goal !!

You do see though that it's just the other side of the same coin? You'd just have them debating if that toe or heel was in line or not.
We are kind of arguing about two different things really. I don't see the problem being how they use VAR at a technical level. I see the problem as the delay it causes and still it is not delivering anywhere near 100% correct decisions. So we still have incorrect decisions only now we also have a really irritating game killing delay as part of that process.

I agree the call per manager system is not perfect either but would be an improvement on the current tedious shit if only by reducing the amount of stoppages and delays caused by that shit.
Personally I'd say to managers you have one VAR request per half and no matter what the decision that's it, fuck you. I can guarantee one thing - they'd think carefully before using them!
VAR strikes again tonight, this time in madrid where yet again the decision goes the way of the bigger club
That of course is the other big issue with VAR. It is so open to corruption and cheating. It's being sold as the thing to prevent incorrect decisions and lead to a fairer game and yet we are seeing more dodgy decisions that benefit the bigger or more "glamorous" clubs.....
What also boils my piss is this current snowflake obsession with looking to the tedious borefest of hugging gayball (or rugby as some call it) for solutions to football's problems. Trying to improve the best sport in the world by copying shit from the worst shittest boring nonsense of a game..... fuck that.
