So much for following the science, or in Boris' case follow the science one month too late. I think they have little choice but to underwrite jobs until next April now. Pay for it over the next 50 years. One thing though, people need to sort their shit out quick, it's not just incompetent government at play here.
All this is on him now.
Yes you can blame the people a bit, but look at the messaging all year it has been unbelievable.
Back in July Johnson gave a speech where he said that he hoped to have the country back to normal by November.Total nonsense, it was never going to happen. Then in August he encouraged the eat out to help out . Again it encouraged people to believe that it was all over. Again total nonsense.
This summer we had an opportunity to put in place a test and trace system. We failed to do that and the consequences will now be a lockdown now likely to go on until March with maybe a week or two off at Christmas.

So we live in one of the lowest areas in uk for covid , most people I know don't know anyone who has had it and yet looks like we will be closed down . All this as the northerners can't follow the rules and to show no southern bias . Ffs

I blame the people more than Boris now, it was clear early doors there would be no strict enforcement of guidelines and after Cummingsgate, the government lost the people.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:00 pmHe has made mistake after mistake.nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 1:53 pmYep, Boris is about to hit the panic button, isn't he? In saying that we don't all need our arses wiped and told what to do when there are three key elements to stopping infection spread. People have taken the piss for months.

You don’t have these problems in other countries for example Germany.
That is because they have clear leadership.

The German people are protesting en masse against Angela Merkel's lockdown policy, the difference between them and us is they are much less likely to have their health service overwhelmed. If you want compliance look at Asia/Australia/NZ, the countries are well known. Whilst we are talking about overwhelmed NHS, it's a catastrophe that ultimately feeds its way back into the economy with a huge rise in excess deaths, not just covid.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:33 pmWell therefore surely the government are to blame for not enforcing the rules!!!!!nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:16 pmI blame the people more than Boris now, it was clear early doors there would be no strict enforcement of guidelines and after Cummingsgate, the government lost the people.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:00 pmHe has made mistake after mistake.nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 1:53 pmYep, Boris is about to hit the panic button, isn't he? Re: CoronaVirus Latest
So....the "lockdown" has been announced. Except it doesn't apply to the 10m who are at school, uni, college or a job that can't be done from home
Nice one numbnuts - another halfway house solution that solves nothing
The pie chart the government didn't present today of course was the one that showed 56pc of multiple C19 outbreaks in the last 4 weeks being in workplace or education settings, 26 pc being in care homes...with only 4pc in hospitality, 4pc in hospitals and 10 pc in all other settings
So let's ban household mixing and going to the pub but allow the 56pc going about their daily business to keep on spreading
This isn't a lockdown. We're still going to lose people in their thousands and we are going to kill a future generation unable to get a job or enjoy any social pursuits
Do one or the other - buy up private hospital beds, lock it all down for 2 months, New Zealand style quarantine and get the army on the streets. Option 1
Option 2 - let it spread
The halfway house is utter lunacy and the worst of all worlds

British people are *word censored*, we want freedom and liberty and then whine when the government takes it away, when they give it back we take the piss, they take it away again we moan like bitches..... ffs this isn't rocket science, it is a communicable disease, avoid other people as much as possible and the infection dies off, but oh no we have to go to the pub/restaurant/gym/social venue/meet family etc etc
We're in this shit because every man and his dog went out of their way to muddle a very simple message and succeded, what was so difficult to understand about, wash hands, wear masks when appropriate and socially distance as much as possible. But oh no, so many people just had to do what they want because the government was wrong to tell them how to live their lives..... we reap what we sow and we can blame the powers that be all we want but we are all individually and collectively responsible for this situation

What I would like to know from Aussies and Kiwis, was life really that shit being under a strict lockdown knowing that it was in the best interests of the country in the longer run. Both countries with Infection numbers very low and manageable. As an island race why could we have not tried the same, close borders in March and when we opened up insisted people had covid passports to come into this country. With the new rapid tests coming on stream that is easily doable.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 9:53 pmSo....the "lockdown" has been announced. But really given what has happened, Boris is playing his populism game again. Give us christmas after a short lockdown, then watch the infections spike again and rinse repeat until the summer. Has there ever been such a lack of leadership at the helm. This is what happens when you elect a used car salesman.
On the plus side my results came back negative, still doesnt explain the symptoms though,
Re: CoronaVirus Latest
Muzz, you contradict your argument so many times. The Govt message has never been clear. They have moved the goalposts so many times, following the science when it suited , but mainly keeping their paymasters happy. From the beginning they have fucked it up. Cheltenham to keep the racing world happy, Johnson denying it exists, then the promise of a World leading track and trace that ended up as 12 BILLION of our money spunked against the wall. If we were supposed to keep distant, then why ‘Eat out to Help out?’ .GoonerMuzz wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 1:07 amBritish people are *word censored*, we want freedom and liberty and then whine when the government takes it away, when they give it back we take the piss, they take it away again we moan like bitches..... ffs this isn't rocket science, it is a communicable disease, avoid other people as much as possible and the infection dies off, but oh no we have to go to the pub/restaurant/gym/social venue/meet family etc etc

The whole thing has just been incompetence, corruption and lies since the start from a Govt that thrives on sound bites and catchphrases.
‘Whack-a-virus, ‘World Leading’, Moonshot etc etc. If we had had clear procedures from the start and dealt with it seriously, we certainly wouldn’t be where we are now.

Agreed - we have a geographic advantage is being an island and have pissed that away through political populism. I said from the start - and I reiterate this time - I can handle a full on lockdown that surpresses the virus to almost a zero state as was the case in New Zealand, and I think the short term economic cost whilst high would be significantly lower than the Boris 'hokey cokey' approach which has now seen us extend 80% furlough into November, having started it in April.nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 3:54 amWhat I would like to know from Aussies and Kiwis, was life really that shit being under a strict lockdown knowing that it was in the best interests of the country in the longer run. Re: CoronaVirus Latest
What surprises me is that anyone in the UK could be surprised that a complete moron like Boris turned out to be..... well.... a complete moron.
Similar with Trumptard on the other side of the pond.
The fact that a bumbling inbred buffoon and a spoiled idiotic manchild are leading two world powers is indicative of a wider malaise in society. It's a symptom of the dumbing down of society and culture brought by the vehicle of the Internet. People that used to be viewed as the village idiot or the town clown now have a platform and an audience.
It's just modern social media populist horseshit politicians that have catchphrases and absolutely fucking nothing to back them up with.

Oh DB, unbelievably, there’s still some that worship at his six-toed feet! It’s incredibly staggering how mislead and gullible they are. Or maybe they actually believe the inbred fool?DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 9:26 amWhat surprises me is that anyone in the UK could be surprised that a complete moron like Boris turned out to be..... well.... a complete moron.

I don't think there's so much surprise, it's just that he was the lesser of two evils - fuck me Corbyn and Diane Abbott could have been managing this mess, and as much as its virtually inconceivable, if any two could make a bigger balls up it would likely be them. Its a bit like the Yanks about to vote i Sleepy Joe, who will end up being one of the most uninspiring presidents in history but gets the thumbs up mostly because the other bloke is such a complete toolDB10GOONER wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 9:26 amWhat surprises me is that anyone in the UK could be surprised that a complete moron like Boris turned out to be..... well.... a complete moron.

I can't see Kier Starmer breaking the mould either. I watched him interviewed by Andrew Marr and he had multiple opportunities to state what he would do differently to the Government, and fluffed his lines every time. Fuck me, if you can't be a convincing leader of the opposition when up against flubber chops, it hardly inspires you to think what he'd be like in power
Woeful two party situation in so many countries - at least with a coalition you end up getting some balance
