Liverpool are deserved Champions * , however they are Champions * of the worst season in Premier League/Football League Division One history where the rest of the top six lost over 50 games between them and the previous season's top six lost a similar amount.
Liverpool deserve some credit for being Champions * , however not on the level that the media are pouring on them . They are not the greatest Champions ever. Arsenal won the Premier League unbeaten and twice as part of doubles. Chelsea won back to back titles and also as part of a double. Manchester City won back to back titles and also as part of a domestic treble. Manchester United won the title as part of a treble, also two doubles and numerous back to back titles. So Liverpool's achievement is only comparable to one time single trophy season Champions Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City.
They are better than Arsenal and further ahead in where both clubs want to be. But the myth and the media fantasy has exaggerated the quality and the achievements so far. But for the first time in years I believe we are not going to Anfield already beaten. We shouldn't be going already beaten.
Tomorrow night is a big test for Arsenal, we may be playing the Champions in their own stadium we may be playing refereeing inequalities, but we can go there and play eleven against eleven. Don't lose to the media adulation before kick off.

Great post and I can't remember any of the above sides having a BBC documentary devoted to them for winning the league.

With no supporters in the ground we have beaten this team twice in the last two games. It'll be interesting to see if we can do it again at their place. If we manage to win then this Arsenal's team previous hammerings have been because they simply bottled it in front of their supporters.
We have nothing to fear going into this one.

Brilliant post! I hope we gain at least a point 2trw night. Plus that I might be able to stay to the end of the match with my Father 9now 85) so we can watch the match together. The last time that we were together watching a game at Anfield the match ended in a draw 4-4-!!

After Leicester City's result yesterday there is an air of complacency among Liverpool fans and their puppets in the media. Not just about tonight but also about the season. It could be a good time to play them.

Hopefully so. Just got out of a Webex and one of the new consultants we work with is a mouser* fan. Before the meeting started a couple of us were talking football and this prize fuckmonkey is already talking about them going unbeaten this season.....

Agree with every word of that great post BWK!

Unfortunately I do not think this season will be any higher quality wise so I can see that lot* walking it again.

Man City were the only hope but they were dreadful yesterday. It seems Pep (just like Wenger) only has a strong back line if he inherits good defenders because despite being a genius (just like Wenger) ... he cannot build one himself.

 Rubbish Clash the famous five had not been near the title for years and his new methods put the spark back into them and then in 2004 he went unbeaten with a defence that had 4 players he signed for the club

He was lucky to have them defenders at the club in 1996/7 and they were lucky to have him as his methods re ignited them and prolonged their careers
and we were lucky to have witnessed it

Pep and City are missing Arteta thats all :barscarf:

That's true

Ok fair points about Wenger herbert. I dont think the 5 years where we didnt come close to the title was down to the defence as such but Wenger certainly gave them a new lease of life and probably extended their careers.

I still think Wenger struggled when they had all retired though and its the same with Pep since Kompany (and before that Zabaleta) retired. Just praying we never take John Stones off their hands. What a gormless lump of shite he is!

As much as I laughed at the end of the Newcastle game yesterday, a lot clubs, us certainly are going to get some real shocking pens against them, some more than others  the scousers already got a gift against Leeds, hit the fella's knee then hand but the rule is even accidental handball is a pen now

Watched MOTD 2 last night last season PL about 20 pens given for handball, seria A about 50 and la liga nearer 60 the latter two have been using this farce of a rule for longer than we have.

The only thing I would say playing the scousers and City early season without a crowd rather than spring next year when the possibility of some crowds being let back, doubtful maybe but imagine that home crowd baying for everything and anything more than they always did :cussing:

Bet we get a dodgy pen against us that diving :censored: Salah and this rule, probably 2-1 defeat tonight, one pen and more VAR idiocy,

Maybe not the league title, but those defenders had won a domestic cup double in 93, won the cup winners cup in 94, and lost the cup winners cup final to a freak goal in 95, so in effect those defenders had gone 12-18 months without threatening to win any silverware
