If we were to be relegated the Wig would be hunted down.
I would think that the rest of the premier league clubs would not want to expel the six clubs as it would put their own financial position in jeopardy due to TV money but they would like to make an example of a team. My worry is that they will go for a big points reduction that would deny Champions League football to City, Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and plunge one of the six in relegation trouble and that would be us.

There is a reason why the league cup money on offer is the lowest by a distance ...... big clubs playing their second string greatly devalues the competition, and this is exactly what will happen in league games if they are allowed play in the super league AND remain in the premier league.

Your second potential outcome makes no sense - these clubs will be going into the super league instead of the champs league, so there is no denying them that

Boris 'Flipflopper' Johnson saying he'll do everything he can to stop it? I doubt you even know the name of Arsenal's ground you lying, faceless c.unt, any sound bite for a few votes.

He loves issues like this - lots of airtime and cheap soundbites, when in fact the battle will be between the big hitting lawyers on the SL side and UEFA, so he doesnt really have to actually do anything at all.

I dont know why but when there were rumours of two clubs "getting cold feet" I KNEW it would be the two plastic clubs Chelsea and City. Which is what reports are saying. A 300 million quid start off bonus? The Sheikh probably spent that renovating a bathroom last year. So potentially a great opportunity to virtue signal and leave the others out to dry.

There is only two managers (pep and klopp) that I would expect to show some backbone and oppose this bastardised competition, and thankfully both have done so because they would have the standing and respect in the game for it to mean something.

Wait until our brylcream boy stands in front of the media on thursday and gives a limped dick response akin to what his team produces most weeks

especially when Sky and their pet pundits etc are making complete arses of themselves with the 'outrage' :rubchin:
Carragob and rat face are making a big deal of it but their employers seem to be a bit more open minded. Don’t be too surprised if Carragob and Rat face perform a volte face in the next few weeks. You can imagine them hyping up Liverpool v Real and Man U v Juve as the most important games ever to take place.

APRIL 20: Sky has released a statement, in which it does not take a position on the European Super League, but reveals it has not held talks to broadcast the competition. A spokesman said: “In the last 24 hours Sky Sports has passionately articulated the views of football fans on the importance of preserving and sustaining the whole football pyramid. We are completely focussed on supporting our long term football partners in the UK and in Europe, already providing fans with the best live action from the best football competitions in the world, and we have not been involved in any discussions with the proposed breakaway European SuperLeague.”

How long left on their current deal with the Premier League?

Sure as shit when that deal is up and if this SL actually happens then Sky will be sniffing around.

Terrible day for football. Effectively ending upwards mobility by killing the chance to join the elite in the champions league by making top competition close ended. The rise and fall of football clubs has always been part of the game, now its over.

I also dont now how to feel about the fact we are one of twelve guilt for this atrocity. Were the fucking villains. I imagine this is how the good Germans felt watching their country became the bad guys of the world in the 1930's.
no it is not because it won't go ahead
Oh yes it will Rob, neither UEFA nor anyone else can stop it!
They can threaten, ban or whatever else, but any action they take against the top clubs, will merely weaken what they are trying to "protect" and I use the word "protect" reservedly, as they are merely trying to protect their own interests!
UEFA is no longer fit for purpose, Perez is right, football needs revamped and made more attractive!
Games against dross from the shittiest leagues in eastern Europe, are fucking pointless and a borefest!
UEFA has had it's way for too long!
Look at our elge final against the Chavs, where two English teams and their fans were made to travel to fucking Baku! Holy Jesus Christ!
Where was the common sense and respect for the fans, shown by UEFA?
Despite pleas to move the game to London, Baku could still have had their financial reward!
No UEFA basically told the two clubs and fans to fuck off!
I've been saying for years this would happen, long before talks were leaked a couple of years ago.
I personally back it 100%
I'm sure that after a settling in period, there will he plans for relegation and promotion introduced!
I don’t back it 100%, but if it ends up destroying UEFA that would be a result.

This year’s Europa League group stage. Arsenal played their reserves. Won 6 out of 6 at a canter. Look at all the Champions League groups and pretty much no surprises who the top two were in each group. So UEFA competition is pretty much meaningless until knock out stages.
UEFA has 30 years to set up an elite competition and instead delivered two low thrill tournaments, with another on the way (UEFA Conference). I expect this new tournament to be even more insipid. Ultimately watching Juve v Barca in September is going to be preferable to watching Bayern rack up double figures against FC Midtjylland

I am not happy about the closed shop aspect, but if say the top 20 teams in terms of UEFA coefficient were in this I would back it 100%. There should be provision to relegate the bottom 4 to a second division every year because that would keep cnuts like Kroenke somewhat honest. Just being mid table would take some effort and investment.

And they could bring back the proper European Cup that is only for League winners rather than this limp excuse of a tournament where 2 teams who don’t have a title between them in nearly 90 years combined compete to be Champions of Europe.

Of course the ESL will go ahead. A group of the worlds richest men in sport have taken 2 years to draw up a plan, do you not think they will have had specialist lawyers going over every single rule etc to ensure there was no legal challenge to it?

How the fuck can FIFA or UEFA stop someone playing for their country because they decided to play in someone else's competition? That would be in court quicker than you can say 'discrimination'.
How can they deduct points/throw teams out of competitions? Because they have said they want to play in another competition? I'm pretty damned sure the billionaires boys club will have looked at that carefully - not a chance it will happen.
Boris 'Flipflopper' Johnson saying he'll do everything he can to stop it? I doubt you even know the name of Arsenal's ground you lying, faceless c.unt, any sound bite for a few votes.
The Premier league without the big 5 and Spuds? You can call it the Championship 2, it will be a nothing competition.
CL without the big 12? Call it the Johnsons Paint Fairs Cup.

Football can't afford to bin any of the 'big' clubs because like it or not they bring in most of the money. There's a lot of posturing from UEFA and FIFA because they can see the gravy train has reached the end of the line. For everyone else, it seems like the 'closed shop' is the problem. That maybe will be amended slightly in time and the guaranteed no relegation cut from 20 years to 10 or something like that.

Whichever way you look at it, it's likely to go ahead if they want it to, it's been coming for some time and the bottom line is, you can't fuck the biggest 12 (sorry, 11 and Spuds) teams out of general competition and expect the old way to work as normal, Burnley v Aston Villa on 'Judgement Day Sunday' just isn't going to pull in the crowds!!
no chance it happening - there are just far too many obstacles - the players dont want it, the managers dont want it, the fans dont want it.
the government could decide to not give work permits to any overseas player, they can decide not to police matches so they couldnt go ahead.
any fans that decide to attend matches here would be subject to massive harassment, in Liverpool you would probably have full scale city riots if the Merseyside derby didnt take place any more.

if the owners decide it cant take place here then they will move the clubs abroad - good then that will leave the stadiums free for Phoenix clubs to take over here in their place and we can get back to normal.#
The circus can be left to the Chinese to watch it. Better still move the whole bloody thing to China and get their players to take part in it :D

Herd i agree in principle with what you say about UEFA and FIFA but do you seriously think the club's will end up running this league?

It will end up being run by the financial backers and you will eventually see changes to the way the game is played to accommodate their needs, think NFL with ad breaks every play etc, more VAR to hype up the tension and so on.

Club's should have broken away from UEFA/FIFA control years ago but this is not the manner in which to do it..... Unfortunately money talks and this is what it is all about, securing more money for the richest club's and their owners, the good of football has nothing to do with it.

Muzz as with most things I say its a tad tongue in cheek but football is already fucked and has been since sky arrived ,the concept of a super league has been around for a while but the only reason UEFA its parent FIFA and sky are up in arms is because they've been left out .

Football governance is a sick joke and anything that might bring down these corrupt bodies is fine by me,I love watching corrupt regimes fall .
I loathe Murdoch and have never had sky but im a hypocrite cos i watch it !
I have hated UEFA since they tried to bully Arsenal into erecting fences but Dennis Hillwood refused to buckle over safety and he was sadly proved right with Hillsborough .
All the bodies that have governance in football are rotten to the core and need to go !
I fell out of love with modern football years ago but there's something that remains .
I don't for one second think the clubs are doing this for altruistic reasons ,I'm not that naïve ,maybe its the rebel inside that thinks that out of chaos there will be order ! Theres a great article on this on the she wore site but im too thick to post it !
