FA Cup Final

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

FA Cup Final

Post by StuartL »

Just wondered what everyone’s first one watched was.... mine was v Ipswich in 1978. :(

Their first one attended ? Was 93 v Sheff Wednesday (and the replay) :barscarf:

Favourite ? Either Mancs in 79 for the goal at the death or v Villa as we were just so comfortable, which made such a bloody change :barscarf:

Best Arsenal goal ? For me Sanchez’ screamer v Villa. 8)

I’ve been lucky to attend 7, see us win 6 and lose just the 1, to Liverpool , when we deserved to win more than most if the ones we did win.

Sheffield Wednesday was also my first, watched it in a pub inhaling 7-up as a 13 year old young fella with my dad and a load of gooners. I remember being excited for weeks before the match (especially since we’d already beaten them in the league cup a few months before - how the fuck is that still our last league cup triumph by the way???) and was absolutely gutted when we didn’t life the trophy after Wrighty put us ahead.

Bar that handball Henchoz cheating fuck disaster of a final I have nothing but superb memories of cup final day, it really is our competition.

Fuck these 2 today, I hope they both lose.

Freddie’s goal doesn’t get the credit it deserved either, ran from halfway, bounces Terry off like he was a schoolgirl, and curls a peach into the top corner :barscarf:

1971 watched attended the 1978 final when I was 15 on my own .I couldn't face going to school on the Monday so I bunked off for the very first time and because I got away with it I carried on doing it.I blame Arsenal for my lack of Education, Bastards. The teacher read out my forged note to the class saying I was sick and they all laughed.
