Russia were away to Denmark tonight so mustn’t have done all 3 at home but your point still stands - shit fest.

Yeah! - I know it doesn't matter too much as we won't go very far, but even so I didn't know Baka was now the Capital of Wales.

Come runners up (Wales) and play a team that qualified with 3 points (Denmark - also runners up).

Possibly win the Group (England) play France, Germany or Portugal.

An absolute farce.

To play all your group games at home is a massive advantage, that's the perk of being the host nation of a tournament, but for this farce to have random teams in the competition playing all home games while other teams play all away makes a complete fucking mockery of the thing. If some of the other "smaller" nations had gotten to play their 3 group games at home like Denmark did who's to say they wouldn't have qualified out of the group too?

Then you've France (who it's hard to feel any sympathy for in fairness, what with them being world champions and having the best squad in the tournament) but they had to play Germany in Munich, Hungary (who give zero fucks about covid so had a packed stadium) in Budapest and then Portugal - again in Budapest. All 3 games away and you could easily come a cropper in the group while England, Italy, Germany, Holland and Spain get to play all their games at home.

Complete and utter bollocks and even for the crooks at UEFA - a new low. Luckily everyone qualifies out of the groups anyway so it all completely fucking pointless  . They're destroying the game year by fucking year - next up the Christmas world cup in Qatar :suicide:

The structure is indeed shit. the tournaments group format renders the group stage random and incidental. It sheds the really poor teams and offers no reward for a team that wins its three group matches, to a team that could potentially have won 1 and lost 2.

The winner of the group should go straight to the quarter finals, while the second placed teams should be drawn against each other at random for a spot in the last 8 with the group winners.

This new structure is simply to accommodate 24 teams, but if you want to get more teams in, just make the Euro's a 32 team format. Ireland, Iceland, Serbia, Greece, Romania, Norway, Bulgaria, Slovenia all missed out. Some of those teams with some luck would make the quarter finals in a 32 team format. Greece won the fucking think in 2004. And they didn't win it like Portugal did by finishing 3rd in their group stages. They didn't even win a match in their group stages yet lifted the trophy.

Does the integrity of competition not matter? How long before the European Leagues adopt a finals system like Rugby League and the champions to be decided by 'Grand Final'. Thats what we do here in Australia with our domestic football league. We have had cases of teams winning the league by 10-15 points and losing the grand final and thus not being champions.

Denmark who bizarrely got to play all 3 of their fixtures at home, losing 2 of them, still qualify for the next round.

This complete and utter shit fest is actually making that conference league thingy seem like a legit competition.

Absolute farce.
The Euros is the elite competition in world football.
Just wait until the 48 team World Cup starts 8)

Soon it will be harder to not qualify for a world cup of European Championship than it is to win one.

I stand to be corrected on this, but I think that I heard on a podcast last night that only 13 teams from europe make the world cup finals - that's not a big number when you consider the amount of countries in europe now

On the same podcast it was said by a guy that does some work with uefa, that this is the LAST TIME the euro's will be staged in a number of countries - in other words it will be reverting to the system where one country hosted the euro finals :barscarf: :barscarf:

Yeah, 2020 would have been the 60th anniversary of the competition so fanny features wanted a festival of football around Europe to celebrate with games taking place in multiple countries rather than there just being one host.

Probably took a back hander to facilitate it the corrupt fucking C.UNT :banghead:

Pleased to see - only trouble is that his job will be to make Kane look good.
