PFA Player/s Of The Season
Re: PFA Player/s Of The Season
Ozil's had a cracking season overall but because he doesn't play for flavour of the month club Leicester City, he's now being mocked on social media for being in that selection alongside Mahrez, Vardy and Kante.
Of course the award will (and should) probably goto Vardy, but Ozil's assist record this season musn't be forgotten. If Walcott were a proper centre forward and Giroud hadn't gone alarmingly off the boil for 1/3+ of the season then we'd be the highest scorers in the league surely.

Ross Barkley ??
I don't think I've ever seen a player try so many Hollywood passes since Alex Mong left us. An absolute liability and massively overrated - surely there were better young ones out there than him ?

Not sure that really matters in the grand scheme of things, since we have the most 'expected goals' trophy.

No I don't think he does but his stats just blow the other 5 out the water. Its not surprising that he's the only nomination from Arsenal. If he had someone even close to working in tandem like Vardy and Mahrez, Alli and Kane, Barkley and Lukaku do then we'd be in a better place. And he'd be favourite to win.donaldo71 wrote:Kante for me. Vardy and Mahrez have been brilliant but Kante sums up everything about Leicester. He runs more in one game than some of our players run in a season.
Just hope the Leicester players dont split the vote and Kane wins it.Remember Ginola won POTY when United won the treble!!!!
Does Ozil do enough in the big games?

No Walcott?
It's a fix.

Ross fucking Barkley??
Perhaps Theo really should be disappointed. I mean, if that overrated pile o'shite can get in there then our own overrated piles of shite, of which we have several, should be right royally pissed off.

Totally agree - he is hugely over-rated and the amount of times he loses possession is shocking.
I cant make up my mind if he is shit or that he has the potential quality that people talk about, but is just another english young player being destroyed by a media trying too hard to build up the idea that england has quality young players, before they are ready

You could use some of your anger towards Leicester more productively and start calling out the guys at our own club who are responsible for our own shitness.Robin_L wrote:Ozil's had a cracking season overall but because he doesn't play for flavour of the month club Leicester City, he's now being mocked on social media for being in that selection alongside Mahrez, Vardy and Kante.

Start with Wenger, move on to Kroenke and then get to work on 75% of the squad.

Re: PFA Player/s Of The Season
barkley is such a myth. decent player, but if wilshere was caught playing with his sense of abandon and arrogance on the pitch without delivering the goods he'd get slaughtered for it.
he's done fuck all yet and shown even less promise than our own jacky boy, but because he plays for little old everton he gets a pass.
oh and
at robin calling leicester "flavour of the month" they'll be flavour of the season come may (hopefully) and have amassed more points than anyone else since 2015. ozil has hardly won a tackle all season and has looked anonymous in far too many games to get close to kante on this award.

It will be though. As soon as we're mathematically incapable of winning the title it'll be just another statistical irrelevance.Robin_L wrote:Ozil's had a cracking season overall but because he doesn't play for flavour of the month club Leicester City, he's now being mocked on social media for being in that selection alongside Mahrez, Vardy and Kante.

Can you really give the POY award to a fantasticly shiny bauble of a player who plays for a side that's blown yet another chance of a title?

Giroud and Walcott have always blown hot and cold.
Putting my Baba hat on; do you think it was wise of Wenger to have sanctioned deals for those two that drain the club of nearly a quarter-of-a-million quid a week between them based on their combined end product?
Re: PFA Player/s Of The Season
No.
I would've cut Walcott loose at the time of his previous extension, the guy's been around the club 10 years now and although he's a decent enough player, he's too ingrained with the whole sense of underachievement hanging over the club. He's a level below the likes of Sturridge and Kane sadly. He's Shane Long-quality, perfect for a Southampton or a West Ham.
Giroud I've always liked and there's a role for him in the squad, but I can't defend him since January. Deservedly dropped and may now miss the cut for the French squad too. Giroud isn't worth £130k per week, but he's contributed a fair bit more than Walcott has, Walcott supposedly on even more money.
Giroud's benefited from being the only player we have who can head the fucking ball properly (including all defenders), which has probably increased his usefulness in the squad up to now.
