Re: Champions League
Disappointed that I am being associated with disrespecting the Hillsborough dead and their families because of a post I made..Simple fact is I do not disrespect this awful tragedy, it's poor victims and their families. I never have done and never will.. What I will say is I cannot understand why Liverpool supporters and the media need this crutch all the time..The media haven't afforded this attention to Bradford City or Juventus but Hillsborough has been turned into such an institution that not talking about it, especially in April, is almost seen as disrespectful.
As a football fan I grieved for those that died in Hillsborough, Bradford and Heysel in four short years of each other..Club affiliations never crossed my mind then. My hatred of Liverpool is a different matter, it comes from such things as jealousy in the 70s, a perception of biased referees in the 70s and 80s, a failure of fans to acknowledge Heysel, fair weather Liverpool fans in my home city..many reasons..
When I said I found last night nauseating it wasn't disrespectful to the Hillsborough dead, it was a weariness with the roadshow that has gone with it..

Re: Champions League
I think you are absolutely right. Is it not now time for the self-indulgence to stop, for them and the media to acknowledge that other fans and clubs showed respect and mourned at the time. 27 years on, the media needs to move on and accept that there are millions of fans of other clubs out there. Hillsborough was horrific but so was Heysel. That one is always brought up and almost driven into us and the other one deliberately ignored, is just not right.Bradywasking wrote:Disappointed that I am being associated with disrespecting the Hillsborough dead and their families because of a post I made..Simple fact is I do not disrespect this awful tragedy, it's poor victims and their families. The media have been brow-beaten and bullied and are petrified of another scouse boycott like the Sun newspaper. They feel they need to indulge it for fear of abuse. There is also the fact that for some people, the scousers seem to have used Hillsborough as a way of absolving their guilt over Heysel. It's a way to ignore it.
Genuine fans have been respectful, kind and fair but the constant attention and aggressive, almost threatening manner in which we are forced to constantly be reminded of it has become unpalatable for many. Comparisons with the way Bradford, Heysel and Ibrox are remembered m, is justified.

ITV had the highlights of the match and showed every second of the minutes silence..........wtf was that all about ? How does that constitute a "highlight" of a game with 7 goals in it ?? I am sick to the bollox of Hillsborough being shoved down our necks every f.ucking year![]()

I still to this day find it difficult to comprehend how attending a game of football can lead to the loss of 96 lives.
It takes little out of anyones time to quite correctly remember such a tragedy.
One of the rare occassions when club allegiances are not important.
If you can't put rivalries behind you when taking this into consideration you are indeed soulless.
Has absolutely nothing to do with rivalries and is nothing near vindictiveness - problem is people cannot seem to separate the tragedy for those people and their families, from the people who are working off a mandate where they find as many people as possible to blame except from their own fans. Justice for the '96 ?? What justice are they looking for and expecting ? If the old bill stood up now and said "it was all our fault", would the "justice for 96" campaign cease to exist ? Not a f.ucking fear and we all know it. Just a few short weeks after that tragedy, they were filmed helping ticketless scousers into Wembley for the cup final through windows - if another crush had of happened due to overcrowding, whose fault would that have been ? Didn't see too many scousers show outrage at their fellow fans did we ?
Your hatred of Wenger has escalated to the point you no longer give him credit for his tentative years in charge.
My aren't we in a sanctimonious mood tonight

Firstly let me say that I don't have an "overall hatred of pool fans" as you claim - 3 of my closest buddies are victims fans and I frequently have this debate with them. You talk about "minorities" like the numbers is the only thing that matters - why have there NEVER been any acceptance of even the tiniest bit of responsibility for creating that crush ? If someone in my family had died in that tragedy then I would want justice too, but justice means holding ALL of those responsible for causing it - instead we have had the scouse nation deferring the all the blame to the Sun newspaper, the old bill and the fa, and that to me isnt justice and is more like a kangaroo court

Whatever pal, sometimes posters like yourself shouldn't post your bitter views on a thread related to a great uefa league gameaugie wrote:LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:Pathetic Augie and you know it you're talking about a tiny minority but you've also just confirmed that you're overall hatred of pool fans is driving your argument and you do have a history of this behaviour.augie wrote:LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:Agreed wholeheartedly, it really does make me wonder about football supporters mentality and vindictiveness, 96 poor souls died (and a lot of them youngsters) in tragic circumstances and a lot of them very slowly.foxinthebox2001 wrote: Sorry guys, but I am amazed to read such disrespectful posts from fellow gooners.

Why don't all you haters start you're own thread titled "why we hate the world and every *word censored* in it"

Re: Champions League
10 years ago we were dreaming of the CL final having despatched Real Madrid and Juventus and still had a squad including the likes of Campbell, Cole, Pires, DB10, Henry and a young Cesc emerging as one of the best midfielders in Europe. Back then I loved the CL - we pulled off some famous wins that season not to mention winning 5-1 at the San Siro 3 years earlier.
Obviously we had to move from that tiny ground in order to compete with Europe's elite because roll the clock forward 10 years and we've had one semi-final where we were nothing short of embarrassing, and a series of Last 16 Trophies in succession and some glorious magical nights in Pireus, Liege and Udine. Also, we'd never have enjoyed some of those moral 2nd leg victories against the likes of Bayern and Milan too.
Halcyon days
