They must have expected Wenger to say "Oh fuck, RA and BSM are unhappy..........ok then I resign."

I think it's fair to say that protest was a shambles and rather than sending a strong message that the fans demand change, it gave the pro-Wenger lot (and the undecided majority) a platform to stand together against the protesters and show support of the current regime.

I also worry it's taken the wind out of the sails of any protest against Villa and will encourage even more apathy and less fight amongst the fanbase.

But then, that's the problem with a silent protest; they're very easily derailed by the pro-Wenger lot who already HAVE a song.

This is why I'm far more in favour of self mockery. Sing "we know what we are, we know what we are, SPECIALISTS IN FAILURE, we know what we are" would at least give the protest something vocal to get their teeth into whilst having a not too subtle (but lighthearted) dig at Wenger and the club.
- self mocking banners are great too. I'll have my "sorry Arsene, we're to blame!" A4 printed paper with me (thanks to OG blog or that idea).

Self mocking is a great way of diffusing tensions between pro and anti groups whilst limiting public criticism. Villa fans have used that approach to great effect recently.

I think the banner boys are doing a great job in publicising the discontent but planned silent protests during games that sit on the fence as to who is the focal point of the protest has proven to be a bad, bad idea.

Well done to the banner boys though. Keep up the good work.

Who knows. That message was stolen from my banner and now they've tainted it.
They're quite busy updating their statuses and posting instagram selfies with their fans.

They've set us back. Thats for sure. We had momentum until yesterday. Now I feel defeated for the first time

I implore you and the other protesters to continue the fight.

The very fact the hijackers-of-the-message aren't going to bother now means that you must bother.

Get the banners out. Keep fighting

The placards were actually print-outs on A4 paper which resembled a hastily printed out sixth form project and it was a small minority who held them up.

It was an own goal because many, who believe it is time for Arsene Wenger to go, rebelled and chanted in support instead.

There you have it. As much as I detest John Cross, he's right - seemingly the people who organised the protest aren't even really sure what the target was. No wonder it flopped.

I like BSM and agree with what they do but this one was so wishy-washy and poorly executed. No time for pussyfooting around anymore, you gotta call a spade a spade. You wanna organise a protest against Kroenke? Make sure it's blatantly explicitly clear that it's against Kroenke then. Likewise if it's against Wenger.

BSM have gone nowhere because they haven't taken a stance on Wenger and it's utterly ridiculous now.

Yesterday summed them up - even an organised protest ends up giving out mixed messages and people don't know what they're meant to be protesting.

there was new people a few rows in front of me trying to start songs just after kick off
the singing in the ground was the loudest for a long while at the start of a game
on 12 minutes whilst holding up the banners
my mate was abused by a AKB behind him ( not the usual season ticket holder) to the point my mate punched him
my mate was then removed by the stewards and arrested
the AKB was eventually taken away for treatment and never returned
it seems to me that there was a lot of people turned up just to support wenger

That's the first time I've ever read a John Cross article. Thank God for that because he is a self satisfied prat of the highest order - how much has Cross spent watching Arsenal over the last 20 years????? A fuck's sight less than I have.

That is the problem, none of the supporters groups will actually come out against Wenger.
Even BSM who mentioned the manager in their statement wouldn't go against him when questioned.

Oliver Holt was criticising the protest on Twitter yesterday. He took time to sarcastically answer my tweet to him when I asked him if he ever bought a ticket for a game.
Thankfully someone found an article he write about his support and admiration for Man U fans for standing up to the Glazers and Liverpool fans for doing the same with Gillette and Hicks...So like most journalists he is a hypocrite.
