The ONLY Euro 2016 thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Before the competition started I had England to win their first game and for this one to end in a draw - now that engerland only drew their first game they are under some pressure and I think that they will come out and wallop wales either 2-0 or 3-0

Have to say that I really cannot understand bale's comments this week - yes to a certain degree the media will be overplaying his comments, but he had played his football in England for years and should know how they work and then not give them the type of comments that they can twist/exaggerate  Why make comments that will rile up the opposition and make sure that they will be fired up for the game ? The one thing you don't do as a manager or a player, is to write the opposition's team-talk for them, and you just know that all the talk in the engerland dressing room will be about shoving bale's words down his throat.

Shocked to see another night of trouble for engerland fans last night  It's not like we couldn't predict that we would hear the usual "the cops went in heavy handed" excuses could we ? We know that the vast majority of English fans are behaving themselves, but at the same time just watch how many of them faced off and goaded the French cops - when you know that as fans you are being heavily criticised for your behaviour, why would you put yourself in that situation ? I know that if I was having a drink and enjoying myself and seen how some of my fellow fans were goading the cops, I would have got my arse out of there and gone elsewhere - we would see how brave these scumbags would be if the peaceful English fans left them their on their own

augie, I've been posting on here for 10 years and once we'd got you to write in paragraphs I thought everything would be ok  .

Look, the "peaceful" England fans have done exactly what you've advocated. Around 45-50k in Marseille on Saturday - how many were facing off against the Russians or police, maybe 500? So, where the fuck do you think the other 45k were then? They were leaving these wankers to their own devices, in much the same way as I'd leave a certain pub cos I could see trouble flaring at home.

Most of these c :censored: s are transferring anti social behaviour to another setting and the only good thing that can be said is that at least some cities and towns in England will be better for it.

You can tell the genuine fans are not involved because from every picture/video of trouble you see there's nobody in jerseys or colours to be seen. Just the same few brain deads with no interest in football who's sole reason for travelling in the first place was to get things to kick off.

I agree 100% with you arseofacrow - my point was that these fans who claim that "they are innocent victims caught up in it all" is bullshit and shouldn't be entertained. Fans who were there knew what was going on imo and they shouldn't be listened to by the mainstream media and that is all I was saying

Btw arseofacrow, seeing as I have never been invited to join the clique I am usually out of the loop, so under what name did you post before ? You say that you are posting on here for the last 10 years, yet your profile says that you joined in 2011......the maths don't add up  Plus I joined in 2007 and it was only in the early stages that I was assassinated on here for my lack of paragraphs ( ), so you were definitely here back then

but there was hardly any trouble a few minor skirmishes and it was simply like being on magaluf strip in the summer. nothing worse than that. the media are bigging it up just to generate interest.

It makes me cringe with embarassment when I see these mugs gathered outside a bar bellowing beligently with outstreched arms at bemused passers by and then baiting the Police .
I hate the Frog OB with a passion but i can honestly say they have been provoked into not giving a shit by the antics of the drunks !

This is old news already but I absolutely loved these comments from Iceland defender Arnason about the ladyboy... Top man this Arnason. :barscarf:

“Iceland only tried to defend,” said Ronaldo. “They had two chances and then did not try to score. They celebrated like they had won the Euro cup or something. That’s a small mentality. That’s why they’ll do nothing.”

Arnason – formerly of Plymouth and Rotherham and now of Malmo – said: “It makes it even sweeter when he’s a sore loser like that.

“I mean, he can say whatever he wants. He didn’t really get a chance today, he got one and he couldn’t put it away. What can I say? Sore loser. Tough s**t.

“He had a header in the final minutes of the game and a chance in the first half but otherwise I thought we had him under control.

“We didn’t set up to man mark him or anything, we just had to know where he was at any given moment and that he will shoot from outside the box and that everything has to be blocked.

“He’s a fantastic footballer but he’s not a gracious human being and the thing is we almost nicked the win so him saying we weren’t going for the win contradicts that.

“We got a draw and could have nicked it. Obviously we’re not going to create as much chances as a fantastic team like Portugal but his comments are the reason why Messi is always going to be one step ahead of him.

“It shows we got under his skin. It was lovely to hear that.”

No mate, you're being assassinated for claiming a partnership of Vardy & Kane is as good as Messi, Neymar and Suarez    :D

Fabulous response from Arnason! :barscarf: 8)

I despise everything about the Ladyboy. He embodies almost everything that is wrong in the modern player; a no class, petulant, diving, cheating, graceless, self-obsessed, egomaniac ponce (in the old 1970's UK sit-com sense - not any kind of homophobic sense).

Apart from the fact that Messi is a better player, the Ladyboy will never be viewed as a true great in the same class as Messi because the Ladyboy is such a poxy little cúnt. :censored:  :x
