The ''no one is coming'' Transfer Thread
Re: Is it time for a Summer Transfer Window Thread Yet?
The image of Arsenal FC has suffered so much in the last 4 or 5 years in particular (regardless of the successes of bringing in Ozil / Sanchez), that now not only can we not compete financially with the very richest clubs in the world (Real, Barcelona, United, City, Chelsea) but we are also seen as less attractive to join than other big clubs who we are actually richer than.

And this the direct result of tolerating mediocrity for so long. We have now become synonymous with failure that players and agents just can't see any ambition at the club. It's stale and uninspiring for players and above all, there appears no end in sight. Every other club has been refreshed through new management and we just look lazy and unambitious in comparison. It's all down to Wanker.Robin_L wrote:The image of Arsenal FC has suffered so much in the last 4 or 5 years in particular (regardless of the successes of bringing in Ozil / Sanchez), that now not only can we not compete financially with the very richest clubs in the world (Real, Barcelona, United, City, Chelsea) but we are also seen as less attractive to join than other big clubs who we are actually richer than.

I will stand by what I have said about Gazidis and Kroenke ever since they walked through the door at the bowl - they will take Arsenal down. Not financially because that is their sole reason for being here......but from a footballing perspective we will never return to the heights we once were.
In 2006 - we had a stadium move to finance, couldn't compete
In 2008/09 - global recession, football living in a bubble.....blah blah blah
2010+ - can't compete with the oil barons buying up the likes of Citeh and PSG......mass accusations of 'financial doping', clinging desperately to the hope that UEFA's fundamentally flawed FFP rules would somehow work out
2014 - new commercial deals on the way........renew those season tickets........manager has the funds to spend.....new kit deal
2016 - we can't compete with the richest clubs again and the distribution of wealth from the new TV deals means we can't even prize players away from Leicester or outbid West Ham for a bloke from Lyon
Yes, the manager is a prize cretin, but the 2 blokes sitting above him allow him to continue to operate with 100% freedom, without any fear or consequence of mediocrity. Now who's fault is that ?

Words can't begin to describe what I'd like to see happen to Kroenke and gazidis. Are we still not allowed to throw out unsubstantiated allegations on here? Cuz I've got a big one for those two fuckers

isn't this the same guy who said a year or two back that the only players we couldn't afford were Messi and Ronaldo?
ok he says that we can't compete. so why did we fucking well move from Highbury to our current monstrosity then????
why do we make such a big deal about qualifying for the Champions League when we are not prepared to spend that money????
furthermore we are told that only teams that qualify for the Champions League can attract the big names. so how come we are not attracting them??
Arsenal have the highest season tickets in world football. Where is this money going??????
if Gazidis wants to act small time then ok fair enough - REDUCE THE PRICES, but otherwise shut the fuck up
The answer my friend is blowing in the wind..........
Wenker / Gazidis are justl waiting for all those premier league clubs to go bankrupt as Wenker predicted a few years back.......then he's going to pounce with all that stockpiled money. Any day now, or maybe next season or the season after.............

Don't wanna tempt fate, but I am surprised that those players good enough to go elsewhere have not tried (as far as we know). Not many, granted, but Alexis, Ozil,....... errr...Kos, Cazorla, maybe Bellerin... they must know that they are talented players at essentially a dead-end club for them, if they have ambition.
I know that they are already rich beyond their dreams, but a move would bring them not only more of the filthy lucre, but also the chance to actually be at a club that wants to compete!
Plus if I was another club, with our history of rolling over when offers come in, I would be all over our players.

Without doubt, but is that enough? The state of the club, it's not their fault, but I can't help thinking about what Tony Adams said in that Sky programme, looking around in the dressing room at Old Trafford, March 1998, 'we had men'....not sure the same is true now.green gooner wrote:They get too well treated regardless of underachieving, that's why my friend.Happy Talk wrote:Don't wanna tempt fate, but I am surprised that those players good enough to go elsewhere have not tried (as far as we know). If I had their talent, I would earn my £150k a week elsewhere, maybe somewhere I had to work a bit harder for it, but would maybe get me some medals as well!

I've made that point before too Happy, the top top players aren't just in it for the money, they want the trophies, acclaim and even the memories that go with it, something which more and more players and their agents can see they are not going to attain playing at Arsenal under WengerHappy Talk wrote:Without doubt, but is that enough? ** Also seen a couple of click-bait links that say we are now trying to sign Mandzukic, is there any top class striker we haven't been linked with this summer

Re: Is it time for a Summer Transfer Window Thread Yet?
They'll all be off soon. The defeatist nature of the club and the tolerance of mediocrity has taken us back about six years. The better players will be get fed up and bored of wasting their careers and will demand to leave. Kos will be off to Germany or Spain, Ozil to Man City or Bayern, Sanchez back to Italy, Bellerin to Barcelona. With Pep at City, we'rd going to become his English version of Borussia Dortmund. Just picking off the players he wants who want to win.Happy Talk wrote:Don't wanna tempt fate, but I am surprised that those players good enough to go elsewhere have not tried (as far as we know).
