THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

This is the easy going part of Wenger's time at the club. That phrase were we are winning, scoring freely and playing well. Wenger and his followers wants to pat themselves on the back, bask in reflective glory and go on about how 'the critics are being proved wrong'.

And this is the bigger problem, complacency and naivety is running high. Look at City and Pep, Pep has no interest in taking his foot of the pedal or taking time to self-congratulate. But Wenger, he really does take these good runs of form to heart. And that ultimately is the difference.

Already some wengerites are giving it large and growing in optimism - even 5 points of the pace. When all the while, the season is only in pace setting mode, of which we are off the pace given City's perfect start to the season.

And it was easy to prevent ....buy Perez and Mustafi earlier, give them some time to bed in and we might just have been ready for playing Liverpool and still be hot on the heels of city.

Hey ho
irrelevant really. in fact it might have made matters worse amongst the AKBs had we started with a win over Liverpool.
ultimately Wenger has zero chance of competing with Pep's Manchester City over the course of an entire season.
finishing in the top 4 will be hard enough for him this year.

Give Wenger his due, I think he must have drawn the balls out of the hat for the last 16 of the League Cup himself.

What a hoot!!!

We'll get to the final, and Wenger will play the kids and we'll lose to Hull or Sunderland.

Amy "arsenes lovechild" Lawrence is at it again

https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... le-journey

Now as sickening as some of that read is, here a smaple of some of the comments underneath....THIS...is what we are up against!
I find it quite shocking that people and media question/doubt and throw vitriol on this manager because of what?

because his 19 and 22 year olds didnt win the title off City Chelsea and United who were spending billions?

do we realise that those 3 clubs were aggressively investing specifically to win major honours while arsenal and wenger were just trying to survive the emirates move?

how stupid must one be to not be able to differentiate the targets and objectives of a club investing 500m on players vs the targets and objectives of a club that spend 15m on players

i mean..did you guys seriously expect bendtner and beoue to beat drogba and giggs and yaya toure in theior pomp ? are you mad or just stupid and incapable of seperating the two ?

then we have the mocking for fourth place. lets ask liverpool totenham m.united and others if they feel the champions league money and exposure are important or not. see what they say

there is an anomally in the sense that the professional world of football, the people that actually work in this industry have wenger in the highest of regards yet the media and low educated/intellect crowd of the uk have swallowed the mourinho trolling and lap it up constantly also playing with weak arsenal fans minds.

as an arsenal fan i am thoroughly embarassed that a section of our support has been brainwashed as much to the point where 50 and 55 year old otherwise mature men sit and cry on tv cameras because arsenal aint perfect yet. i guess its their inadequacies in life taking it out on their football team for not giving them banter ammo in the pub.

No logical or sane person could ever object or have issues with what Wenger is doing. Only the crazy ones.

Once i saw an elderly gentleman , looked otherwise civilised and normal and then all of a sudden turns around and starts shouting ' wheres the fucking money gone ? wheres the fucking money ????' .... i wanted to tap him on the shoulder and show him the stadium behind him but the guy was too drunk and too think to understand anything.
The detractors of Wenger should remember his success on the pitch has seen more trophies in the cabinet than any outside MU, he has kept them in the Champ League for a time immemorial, kept the club together during the fractious changes at board level & oversaw the transition form a dated if much loved ground to what might be the best club owned stadium in Europe......

The clubs finances have been stable throughout this period & his refusal to be part of any ridiculous auction for a player usually promoted by their fee loving agent has been an example all the top Premiership clubs who've taken the easier route of using the Sky/BT money of poor management both in terms of players & finance.

His most annoying habit to the non Arsenal fan is the ability to see every wrong & often correct decision against the team while failing to have seen their transgressions which would often mean he must have left the stadium afore kick-off.
There...I knew you'd all enjoy that!

Jesus Christ alfuckingmighty. I have never read so many straw man arguments, so many stupid uninformed comments, and so much fucking delusional horsehit rubbish gathered in one place, ever. Some of our "fans" really are fucking simpleton morons. :( And some are not Gooners but members of the Cult of Wenger. :x

xgtdec - you deserve a fucking medal for being able to put that load of cuntology in one place without losing your mind, mate! 8)

unbelievable comments there !

the reality is that winning just 2 FA Cups in the past 12 years makes it one of the least successful periods in the last 100 years of the club....
