Wenger (and Henry) tells it that he was bought (initially to partner) but then as a direct replacement for Anelka. He had made only a handful of striker appearances for Juve. He was a winger there. Wenger saw the potential striker in him and converted him to the role. Let's not re-write history because we all don't want Wenger at The Arsenal anymore, mate!

So if he saw the "potential striker" in Henry, what the fuck did he see in Giroud,Sanogo,Walcott.Chamakh, etc etc? :rubchin: :D

And that's the problem. He got it right with Henry (by genius or luck, who knows) and he has since thought he can't get it wrong... :|

His shit-players-signed list is as "good" a read as Fergie's. :|
Henry would have been quality if John Gregory or Phil Brown had have signed him,the law of averages say that if you sign 30 strikers in 20 years 1 might be decent,Wenger has proved it since that it was probably more luck than judgement,(Henry's cult like following of Arsene helped too I suppose) what with his list of strikers who couldn't score in the Reeperbahn with 30 Euros in their shorts,

Giroud and Ramsey still sidelined says Wenger. Really? I think Wenger might be trying to delay having to make a decision.

Dont do it Arsene, dont ruin the teams balance and rhythm.

I think this is a key point.

Wenger did NOT create great players like Henry. Henry was a phenomenon! As were a number of others. What Wenger did right was allow them to play and not stifle them like some other managers might have done. Even George Graham perhaps?

Saying that though, if Graham had had those players I am certain he would have won some european trophies with the discipline and tactical nous he would have added. It might not have been as good to watch but I dont think one CL final and one semi final would have been the best he would have done.

Wenger does not and never will get a team to punch above its weight and he has never overachieved with what he's had available to him. There is not a single game in Wenger's time at Arsenal where he has won a game against the odds. Games (or 2 leg ties) where we are underdogs under Wenger, we lose.

When the subject of Wenger becoming England manager was discussed last week on Twitter there was universal pleas from the sheep begging him not to go..one genius actually said..it would be terrible if Wenger left Arsenal now as it could /would undo his last ten years work rebuilding the club..

Maybe he would have, maybe not. It's easy to say he would have, with hindsight, but who knows how he would have turned out under another, stricter manager, in a different system, with different players at club level... I'm sure he would have risen to some level in the game but to the heights he hit? Who knows. Look at Anelka. He should have been the player Henry became, but it didn't quite happen for him. Every player at the top level will tell you that the manager is often the key element in how far they go in the game.

I think Anelka had such a bad attitude that's what ruined him,or attributed to the player he never became, maybe too much too soon.Henry played on the wing at the beginning I think so maybe he learnt another system from that, and that's why he loved cutting in from the flanks,I'm sure even Arsene saw the massive potential in Henry once he'd settled and started banging in the goals,at stages in his career Henry was unstoppable.Great point about the club players around Henry,we forget just how good they were,I think we can all agree Henry did pretty well while at the club,I just find it strange Wenger has never tried to find another Henry "type" of player up front, tall, strong and quick, the strikers since have been a mixture of lanky, shit and slow,Bendtner,Giroud,Sanogo,Vela,Reyes.Van Persie was sort of in the Henry mould, while not blessed with lightning pace,he was technically good and a decent finisher,Adebayor was effective at what he did, some days he was also unplayable,(when he could be bothered),but I think on the whole Wenger has proved (and maybe the stats too) that he's come up short in the successful striker stakes.

I think alot of our strikers have been bought as a foil for the midfield to score goals.

I mean like giroud to flick the ball on for the likes of ramsey/ozil/sanchez etc rather than a 30 goal striker ! or maybe he is just shit!

Did he really now? A string of good results against mainly the dross in the league and he eagerly stirs the angst against the part of the fanbase that doesn't have the memory of a goldfish; the part that still sees him for the charlatan he is. Let's see how gobby he'll remain when groundhog season number 12 becomes patently obvious.

Wenger didn't actually call the supporters a "virus". He said the bad vibes around the team spread like a virus when results go bad. The actual quote is; "I must say that the negativity comes very quickly. It is a virus that travels very quickly and goes away very slowly." It's a cheap shot but not quite as bad as calling us "a virus"! :|

Now I love to give Wenger a kicking every now and then, but you are comparing apples to oranges, especially in Phil Browns case and John Gregory loved a sunbed too....
They would not know a decent player if it smacked them in the face!....

we have had incredible luck this season in the matches, and with the fixture list - just look at our next 5 games!

Lugovrets home (who the fuck are they?)
Middlesborough home (will probably finish bottom 3)
Reading home (championship fodder)
Sunderland away (almost certain to get relegated)
Lugovrets away (where the fuck are they?)

5 wins against this lot (which should be a certainty) will see AKBs proclaiming that this IS THE SEASON!!! :D

we have so far only had 4 "tough" matches this season

Liverpool home LOST
Leicester City away DRAW
Paris St Germain away DRAW
Chelsea home WIN

Ok so we beat Chelsea, but this was when they were still adapting to life under their new manager.
they finally appear to have got going, so again we got lucky to play them when we did. we failed in our other 3 tough matches, and there will be plenty more of them to come this season.

Enjoy the next 2 weeks though :D :barscarf:
