TRANSFER SPECULATION - WHO ARE WE LINKED WITH?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Krancjaer would not be high on my shopping list either!

However I am not sure that Hleb actually contributes more than he would so I can see some reasoning in it. Neither rely on out and out pace to beat a player and one thing the Croatian has in his favour is he will shoot at least twice a season........rumour has it Hleb is still going round the Reading full back now!

If we can sell Hleb for a hefty sum and by Krancjaer for half that figure then I wouldn't be to upset as long as the remainder also went towards another signing!

However, if Krancjaer was our major signing this summer I would think that shows a real lack of ambition!

What do people think of the Celtic and Eire youngster McCready? Yes I know it's yet another young player, but he has European and International experience, can play on both wings and looked very skillful and pacy whenever I've seen him. 8)

Do you mean McGeady? I have a mistrust of anyone playing in Scotland, as I simply can't pass judgement on them at all. Look at Gio - not a BAD player for us, but not the World-beater he looked in Rangers team. Barry Ferguson was far and away the star of Scottish football before coming to Blackburn, and look what happened there.

Of course Gatusso is the exception that proves the rule, perhaps.

Not seen enough of him to comment but I do agree looking good in the Scottish Prem tells you very little!

Not to say the fella isn't good though!

That's the fella I meant. 8) I know what you mean about players from the Scottish league, but I've seen him turn it on in the Champions League and for the Republic so I don't doubt the talent is there.

Whether he is mentally tough enough to do it on a consistent basis in the Premiership would be the question. I think he might and would certainly be worth taking a punt on, providing the transfer fee demanded wasn't astronomical.

There is one sticking point though unless Scotland has just become a Republic in Africa!

Are you talking about Luke Freeman? If so, we signed him a little while back and he played 9 games (with 3 goals) for the academy/u18 side towards the end of the season. 8)

In the past mcgeady has looked lightweight and a show pony but in the last 12 months he has upped his game big time. He is a proper winger in that he has pace and loves taking on the full back but whether he is good enough or is enough of a footballer for wenger is another story
