Remember reading about the Marseille boy a couple of months ago. He sounds like a bit of a prospect.

I'm always wary of these players that we are linked with at the 11th hour cos it always reeks of a wenger last minute trolley dash

yeah the pepe photos, after the merchandise ones, there's him walking into Colney with the photographer with huge lenses. not your average pap stuff.augie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 3:33 pmWhat photographer are you seeing cos I aint seeing one Are you mixed up with the pepe photographs or do I need to get myself down to specsavers ?clockender1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 3:03 pmthat looks promising - that is the club photographer with him - i reckon they will announce him in the next few hours, 24 at the most, subject to UEFA re-registration.augie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 1:52 pmAnd still it goes on ……….

And if TOF was still here then you would be right to be concerned.
BUT he's gone and tbf the signings we've made since TOF was sidelined and then dumped haven't really led to a Mustafi, Xhaka, Micky T, Chambers etc type signing (yet) so I think we can afford to adopt a slightly more positive outlook. I think any 11th hourness to our transfer dealings now is from a financial perspective rather than just the old last minute 'any fuck.er will do' trolley dash.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
those fat lenses are not for close ups - he is there to take the 'pepe with a ball' type shot, "pepe surveys the fitness room' etc etc.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Wouldn't say priced out when we dished 80m at Pepe, yeah fine, in instalments but not sure Palace would've demanded firmly on full payment. If they did, then fine.augie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 12:45 pmRian1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 11:18 amI feel for Zaha because he spent most of the offseason trying to join us and instead we ditched him and going for his international teammate. I would be pissed off slightly if my boyhood club said they did not have funds for me and meet my current team halfway through but instead are paying the same amount to my international teammate to join the club.augie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 10:56 amThis is hardly a possibility is it

If you are a genuine born and bred Gooner, who has spent the last month pushing to join your boyhood club, would you then join their hated rivals once your "dream move" doesn't happen
Wouldnt be a proper Gooner imo if that happened now
Having said that, he is probably desperate to leave Palace, they offer nothing valuable to him and he is wasting his prime - if Bayern are serious, I'd push for a move to Bundesliga - the teams over there in the top 5 all have space and ££ to spend on him and Bundesliga, imo is a good league to shine and, who knows, then push a move to the likes of RM, Barca.
Would I join those filthy scums? Me sitting at my desk now I'd say FUCK no. Me being a professional footballer hitting my prime? It's different. We need to remember we, as fans are talking from the love we have for our club and badge. That goes out the way in pro football because no matter how 'small' Scums are, they are still heavyweights and if that's the only heavyweight paying his 80m or whatever it is, what can he do? In pro football that's an opportunity to shine, not about who you love/hate.
We didn't ditch him, we were priced out of him - I'm damn sure that Zaha (and his agents) will have known all along about our financial limitations, and will have been kept up to date with the responses AFC received from palace, so he will know that it aint our fault that we cant sign him.
Anyway, if he signed for the scum last summer then it would have been no big deal to me, but if you spend a month declaring your love of Arsenal and then sign for their hated rivals, that sir is very wrong in my eyes
Agree on the second part 100% but what's he supposed to do now, join the Palace equivalent of Merseyside? At the end of the day he's looking for a step-up and Scums, are one for him. He lost it with Palace, wanting an exit is never good.

If Mustafi goes that will be more thrilling than the arrival of Pepe.
