As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Let me say that Freddie was probably my favourite "invincible era" player. I don't know why....he just was. I would go further and say that for perhaps nine months of the 2001/2002 season, especially when Robert Pires was out injured, he hit heights that equalled those of any of his contemporaries during that whole glorious period.
But it is fucking ridiculous to leave ourselves in a position where he as a fledgling coach is running the show, probably until the end of the season. The fact that we failed to move three weeks ago, when it was obvious Emery was on borrowed time, allowed Tottenham to act decisively and bring Mourinho in. Whether you like the man or not is irrelevant. It was a calculated gamble to appoint a man with a proven track record of hitting the ground running. Liverpool changed their manager in the autumn four years ago, but had Klopp lined up to take over straight away.
Of course there will be loads of goodwill towards Freddie from the fans. The board know that. But it doesn't translate into turning the club round or even leaving us in a position where we are likely to attract a quality manager in the summer. It is criminal that we have left ourselves in this position where Freddie is left in charge because no-one else is available, certainly not Rodgers or even the bloke from Wolves.
That pri.ck Rob Wotton on SSN has just said to Charlie Nich and I kid ye not "who is the man....or woman who is up for this job". He said that, on national TV, really ...." or woman" ffs the man is a fu.cking idiot.
I actually feel for him. Seemed a decent bloke, conducted himself well, but it became clear he couldn't improve us or even stop the rot. I still say that It stopped being his fault post-Leicester and the board should have acted then.
Although I really wanted him out, I do wish him all the best for the future.
Speaking on behalf of the Arsenal board and our owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, Josh Kroenke said: “Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.”
The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required.
We have asked Freddie Ljungberg to take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach. We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward.
The search for a new head coach is underway and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete.
Yay. I voted for Freddie. Suck it up

"Freddie will only be able to coach for 12 weeks if appointed now. It’s a UEFA rule for those who only have a license “A”. He needs to get a license “B” in addition to “A” to qualify."
Good luck to him wherever he ends up, he inherited a shit show and was not capable of moving things forward, not his fault but he was not ready for this level of club with the multiple problems it has. Also the EPL is a different kettle of fish from Spain or France and like many Managers and Coaches he was not capable of adapting to it, but again it was not his fault he was retained far too long.
Where we go from here is anyone's guess. Freddie is in an unenviable position, if things go tits up for him all the ire must be directed at those above and not him. He is in no way ready to take on a struggling EPL team of our stature but i hope to god he can do something to stop the rot or at the very least his interim period is short.

Finally, the board make a decision. It is sad they let it carry on this long but he wasn't good enough for the premier league. He gave it his best shot and was honest that he could not get the balance right. Wish him well for the future.
