Another long ass article from the Athletic that addresses Arteta's ability to coach a defence. Again I implore you not to quote the fucker in it's entirety.

https://theathletic.com/1478762/2019/12 ... l-defence/
When Arsenal sold Alex Song to Barcelona in 2012, they were expected to replace him with an archetypal defensive midfielder. Instead, Arsène Wenger asked Mikel Arteta to step into the role........
Mate do us all a favour and don't post the entire article please. Just post the link and a brief description or comment.
I wouldn't normally if it weren't behind a pay wall.
OK fair enough.

Ornstein: During the training session on Sunday when the players were doing the rondos - quite a few of the Arsenal players were flicking it with a trick to elude the defender and Arteta stopped each time and said "You don't do this during the match, so why are you doing it now?"

Ornstein: "One person I was speaking to said that Edu from quite early on was feeling that Unai Emery was NOT the right appointment for the club."

DB10internettwat: during training it became clear to Arteta that Mustafi is complete shit. Also the sky is blue when there are no clouds during the day.

I’ve often thought over the last season or two that many of our lot would happily lose the game as long as they got a nutmeg into their showreel

Not enough desire in our lot - Arteta May prove to be the man after all !

To be honest, I place more trust in your second sentence than anything I've read so far in the media about what's been happening in training. If reports are to be believed then we'll be stuffing Bournemouth 5-0, the defence are suddenly set to become like GG's famous backline overnight, Ozil will be covering 20 kms getting up and down the field, and Lacazette is poised to score all 5 of our goals

Meanwhile in the real world, the same indisciplined lazy wankers who got us into this mess are preparing to go through the motions once more and stink the place out

I have warmed a small bit to mustafi in that he is no longer in the top 3 of my "get rid" list - lazy, arrogant cocks like auba, laca and xhaka make my piss boil because they could do better, but poor old mustafi is doing the best he can but is ultimately shit :( :(

From The Express:

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was angry with some of his players in a training session for attempting too many flicks. The new Gunners manager will take charge for the first time on Boxing Day against Bournemouth.
The Spaniard had asked his players to do a piggy-in-the-middle drill to focus on tight passing while under pressure.
Some Arsenal players resorted to flicks and tricks though which didn’t go down well with Artet
“Put your foot on it, even if it takes a split second longer and play the pass!”
Later in the same session he instructed Alexandre Lacazette to avoid using a flick.
He said: “No flick, body shape and play on.”

Mikel Arteta reveals he wanted to bring Granit Xhaka to Man City in 2016 but Arsenal won the race... now new Gunners boss wants to help the midfielder return to favour with fans

"When I was going from Arsenal to City to start coaching and we were looking in that position, he was one of the players on my list,
This is how much I liked him. I was happy when Arsenal signed him because I thought he was going to be a terrific player.
He has done some really good things and now he has got stuck in a very difficult situation that, I think, was growing and growing and growing and one day it exploded.
But I have been amazed by how this relationship is starting to come back a little bit and I think the fans have been very very positive about him.
I told him how much I like him and what I expect from him, how important he is for the team. I am here to help him, I want him to feel we're right behind him - not just myself but the whole club.'"
