KROENKE OUT / The Board / Staff etc (merged thread)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So the King is dead long live the King !
There are only 2 or 3 reasons I can see !
1. he's been caught with his fingers in the till
2. He has clashed with Arteta and has lost !
3. Josh finally realised he was an overpaid clown who knows nothing about football and decided to save money for daddy by binning him and fahmy !

You can be sure he didn't resign, look at the clubs statement it smacks of a scaking !

Personally I'm very pleased he was a complete fraud ,something we specialise in !
Sanhelli modern day George Graham. Arsenal recruited a corporate lawyer Tim Lewis from Clifford Chance in July, wouldn't be surprised if he's looked into Raul's transfer dealings and found some dodgy stuff. Especially with the Pepe Transfer.

Does it never end at Arsenal, in probably the most crucial transfer window in our recent history.
For once you might be right flush.
Tim is a real old school toff whose more Into murders and executions but hes a partner at CC so I'm sure he is a hardball negotiator and it wouldn't surprise me if he dug deep and found a rotten fish under the floorboards.
They cant risk a scandal because the club might run foul of UEFA n FIFA and Rauls carefully prepared statement on Pravda implies hes been booted.
The carefully leaked suggestion the club are looking into the Pepe deal suggests they sacked him over this deal.
I bet he doesn't give the money back.

You make Tim Lewis sound like an executioner Herd. He's nothing more than a very well qualified Forensic Corporate Lawyer, he was involved in the Arsenal takeover. You don't appoint someone like him unless you smell a rat, given Kroenke's long standing history as a succesful businessman he will be surrounded by people like Tim Lewis in the US. Being so hands off, it is crazy he has allowed the club to be run like this for so long.

And this is the problem with Agents over scouts, there always will be a conflict of interests on all sides to get deals over the line. After seeing Upecano play in the CL the other night, I think that the Pepe money should have been spent on him.

Edu should be the next one fucked out the door, clean sweep.

Seems we paid 30/40 million over the odds for Pepe, fucking hell.

So Tim Lewis Arsenal fan.

An expert in M&A and part of the CC team who advised wiggy and did his dirty work to effect the takeover of the Arsenal.

A Charterhouse / Oxford "chap" at a top law firm who perhaps wiggy sees as a long term candidate to be the next P H-W.

Very useful to have around the place to look after your interests if you can't be bothered to do it yourself.

Just sounds to me like wiggy's got himself a new poodle.

Oh dreary me Nut ,I throw you a bone and you fuck it up, tsk tsk old boy .
Murders and Executions is the slang City phrase for Mergers and Acquisitions, it has the name because it really is the cutting edge of the corporate world and is what every toff lawyer with ambition aspires to do but only a very small percentage actually do .
Along with distressed asset Lawyers they are the killer whales of the cooperate world who consider barristers and Qc's as drama queen poofs and anyone else as road kills waiting to happen !
These people are often the ones that used to torture small animals and the new boys in their posh public schools, in his case Charterhouse one of the top schools in the UK .
I didn't realise he was a forensic lawyer too ,is that right or did you make that up Nut ?
You can be sure Tim knows how to play hardball when negotiating and it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table .
Clifford Chance are a very money old school Oriented firm ,one of my late great lawyer friends Lars Staer was a partner there too, he did large scale dispute resolution in Shipping ,he used to say if you didn't bill a million a year you were out the door and he's been dead some 20 odd years !

I think he might be a breath of fresh air !

Thats a new one on me herd, one of my close pals works for a City Law firm. Never heard him mention anything like that.

Also networked with a lot of Lawyers down the years, the posh ones don't use that sort of speak. Are you in there with the law clerks or something? :D :D

I take it you never read American Psycho, and it wasn't original then either !
I think it's origins came from the early 80's when asset raiders gobbled up small stock listed companies, asset stripped them and often sold off the parts which often meant (and still does ) that large scale redundancies occurred in the victim company .
I've heard it mentioned in many films too and it really is common parlance .
I've always had one foot in the gutter and another in the stars so I know the typical cockney barrow boy clerks who organise the lives of barristers and qc's in inns of court but I know and have worked with many top lawyers ,particularly in shipping which was my field and as I've told you before I'm an ex colleague and chum of a former Lord Major of London who graciously buys me lunch a couple of times a year ,my accent and discussion topics of course vary considerably ,I'm a bit of a chameleon on that front .
When you buy or sell ships costing millions of pounds each for someone even as a broker you need to have your own counsel to make sure the two parties don't come after you when the market either plummets or booms in the year or two after because shipping is a boom bust repetitive cycle
and it often happens.
There are many sharks and crooks in the shipping business and I've been lucky not to be eaten by them on more than one occasion largely with a well timed letter, telex ,fax and more recently emails .
In my younger days I was a lucky boy as one of my pals older brothers was a clerk at Lincoln Fields and sorted someone who looks like me very good briefs for sliding out of criminal prosecutions for alleged acts of football hooliganism !

Bit of tongue in cheek there herd from me. The lawyers I know are either proprietors of local firms, Forensic accountants working on court cases, or Partners in Trust departments of medium sized city firms. Regardless Tim Lewis is a good man to have on board. Good luck to any chancer that thinks Arsenal are a soft touch to cream a few million quid off any more.

Breaking: Freddie Ljungberg leaves Arsenal, deciding to pursue management career. No job lined up but seen as best for all sides that he’s free when options arise. Swede made a big impression at #AFC. Arteta is seeking additions to staff @TheAthleticUK

Interesting cull going on, wonder how safe Per is at the Academy, as a Wenger appointee. To be frank I'm not convinced many of these 'decisions' to leave are in the best interests of the club but I hope I'm proven wrong. In my limited experience this all feels like a certain someone is consolidating their position by removing anyone they consider a threat no matter how small to their position :rubchin:

There is no doubt things have gone badly wrong at Arsenal for about 15 years now but it seems to me that the single biggest problem the club has had for the majority of that time, the one who has overseen countless issues during the period and let them continue is the one and only person who isn't going to be going anywhere.

Change is required but wholesale change at the bottom to mid level means little if the driving force at the top is the biggest issue there is :banghead:
