OZIL - Merged Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think the club have played this all wrong. They should've come out and insisted that ozil is not going anywhere, he's not for sale until his contract is finished. He'd have left by now if the club made out he was stuck with us.

NEW: Erkut Sögüt on Fenerbahce: “It is a case where Mesut would come not just as a footballer but as a lover. The process is underway though I can’t give a percentage. Even if we agreed verbally, it is not over without signing the contract. Let’s wait a bit.” [@beINSPORTS_TR] https://t.co/eHnUQshNww

Mesut Ozil prepared to forgo proportion of the ~£7m owed to leave Arsenal this month as free agent. Talks between #AFC & 32yo continue - if no agreement he stays. Talks with Fenerbahce + DC United ongoing but Jan move would only be to #FENER @TheAthleticUK https://t.co/4dyRdVfx02

A real shame. We should have gotten so much more from such a talented player. But ultimately it became a ridiculous situation once Wenger and the Lizard gave him the 350k a week deal. As good as he was he wasn't worth that. Very few players are.

Like the chav rat Fabregas before him, Ozil's time with us must be viewed as a failure. Players with their ability should have teams built around their vision and passing ability and should win leagues.

Be interesting to see how much of that 350k a week gets reinvested in the team..... yeah right....

From the outside we look like a joke team. Whatever the issues with Ozil or whether fans like or hate him we have a manager who for months has started utter gash like Xhakatard, Nelson, Maitland-Bendtner, Pillock and Hleballos ahead of a world class player who on his worst day was far far superior than any of the above named on their best day. We are a mess of a club and a mess of a team.

It’ll be interesting to see how much of that 350k a week we are still going to be paying in the first instance!

Yup. Given our well documented negotiating "skill" I'd imagine it might be 349.9k a week.....
