It should be clarified that most of the troublemakers were scum that werent protesting against the lockdowns ..... they were just protesting against authority and used the protest as a way of causing trouble.
I still am absolutely against the level of lockdowns that we still have right now, but no way do I approve or condone any of that shit. However the Irish government came out yesterday saying that it is illegal for anyone to attend these protests and they can be arrested if they join in - fcuk that shit Did we move to china without anyone telling me ? When did peaceful protests become illegal ? When did free speech become illegal ? By all means jail or shoot the scum that cause trouble like they did on saturday, but do not think that justifies taking peoples basic civil liberties cos it doesnt
Most of them are also full members of the Sinn Fein rent a mob filth.
I hope those cops busted some fucking heads on Saturday, especially the heads of the couple of vermin that aimed the fireworks at that cop's face. He was a couple inches from being blinded or maimed. What type of cowardly cùnts do that? Fucking dole sponging low life filth.

What a gobshite! Probably the same cop that mistakenly battoned that news cameraman during the student protests a few years back. "Huh how was I supposed to know he was a cameraman just because he had a big camera with him and was wearing a hi-vis vest with "Reporter" written on it?"

Anyone agree that Sunak has been the outstanding government performer throughout this whole thing?
Great people's budget today and has done loads throughout this to help people.
There will always be some who will miss out, but i've respected him since day 1

Since he became Chancellor the UK has suffered the biggest drop in economic output in 300 years, the worst economic crisis from the pandemic of any major economy with a permanent scarring of £60 billion, so sorry I do not share your optimism of him.goonersid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 6:04 pmAnyone agree that Sunak has been the outstanding government performer throughout this whole thing?

As for the budget yesterday Rishi Sunak actually said very little beyond a short term fix.

So what was the alternative, John Macdonald or Annelise Dodds to throw billions of pounds at the consumer like they have done in the US? And then wonder why they are spunking off stimulus cheques on the stock market. A consequence of borrowing more money to prop up the economy is that it causes inflation, higher prices and puts the Bank of England in a situation where it is faced with increasing interest rates which in turn screws over the consumer and the government who has already borrowed a shed ton of money to pay for furlough amongst other things. So yeah Rob higher prices and mortgage costs are highly desirable arent they.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 7:46 amSince he became Chancellor the UK has suffered the biggest drop in economic output in 300 years, the worst economic crisis from the pandemic of any major economy with a permanent scarring of £60 billion, so sorry I do not share your optimism of him.goonersid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 6:04 pmAnyone agree that Sunak has been the outstanding government performer throughout this whole thing?

The economic output drop was unavoidable, you even said yourself we should have locked down harder and faster. The consequence of that is a deeper recession. And you’re only looking retrospectively at the economic situation. The successful vaccine program it has been predicted by many economists will see the UK recover a lot quicker than our European counterparts ,who well and truly fucked up their own rollout to the extent that EU member states are now taking unilateral action.
Rishi Sunak is the most competent member of this government, future Prime Minister material.

The eat out to help out was a disaster costing the taxpayer a staggering £180m, and several covid spikes were traced directly as a result
The self employed grant scheme has still to be quantified but according to HMRC and BBC the associated fraud could run into billions
freezing the lower rate tax threshold for 3 years will do little to help the less well off, although corporation tax rise was a good move

Yeah, in the circumstances he’s not done a bad job. Some people have been left behind, but its really hard having to negotiate a pandemic when you don’t know whats around the corner. Fraud always happens when handouts are on offer especially grants.Redarmy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 11:46 amOverall hes done OK , difficult measures still to be takennut flush gooner wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 10:53 amSo what was the alternative, John Macdonald or Annelise Dodds to throw billions of pounds at the consumer like they have done in the US? which right wing tabloid fed you that information ?
yes if we had locked down harder and faster we could have avoided being locked down for so long.
not only did the government get the initial handing of the pandemic wrong they made repeated mistakes all year.
Rishi Sunak's policy of eat out to help out was a disaster. What moron would think that getting everyone to gather in restaurants during a global pandemic was a good idea? Then of course the science was ignored in the autumn and we locked down too late in November. what a waste of time that was as the lockdown was too soft, and transmission was not reduced...leading to a mutation of the virus here in the UK. It is no coincidence that the big countries that have all handled the pandemic the worse, us, Brazil, USA have all seen mutations occur. This is not looking retrospectively, any fool could see what was coming last autumn.
yes we might have got lucky with the vaccines, well done on that , but the economic damage has already been done.

Rob, I don’t need the socialist worker to feed me snippets of information on how well or badly the economy is being run. If you actually opened your eyes and read what I said both on here and the brexit thread, I would protest vote against Boris, Hancock, Raab and Patel because in my eyes they are not true Conservatives. But, if Rishi became the Leader I would have no problems backing him. Im not blind enough to back any Tom, Dick or Harry as you where with Corbyn.
Eat out to help out was last August, look at the graphs. Infections didn't spike until the kids returned to school and students went to university with millions of first year students travelling all over the country. The Kent mutation was first detected last September, mutations happen its not exclusive to this country and its our genomic sequencing that is identifying each new strain. Again look at the graphs in the November, infection spread was controlled.. We got to the beginning of December with lower new infections. The shit hit the fan in December when the Kent variant got out of control. I am not giving Boris any rope for this, but unlike your sweeping statements like to see things for how they are.
Could there have been swifter action, yes but again as I said you look at the negative impact on the economy of previous inaction but disregard the positive impact the vaccine will have of getting us out of this mess. Admit it Rob, there is no balance or substance to anything you say.

rob, be fair your a moron, just look at your opinions on any match day thread, where you often see a good performance when we have been atrocious.
your pie in the sky student union rhetoric on this topic and the brexit one just bring that to the fore.
We are all morons in our own ways, but you are so blinkered on anything anti tory its crazy. your like one of the vacuous brain dead on twitter echo chambers, or a teenager who's just discovered politics who use the term 'tory' as if its something offensive. your views are naive, pie in the sky excused by youth at best or wumming, or ignoramusy at worst.
look at you digging out of those choosing which vaccine to have based on the fact one could make them seriously ill, worse than covid may.
you offer lots of problems but no solutions. you need to get in the real world. yes we all know mistakes have been made in this pandemic, but making sweeping statements with no thought out impacts or rational solutions to knock on impacts simply to have a dig at the 'tories' is tiresome.
anyway carry on as you were!

I can't make my mind up as to whether Sunak is actually any good or is he a 'Rob Holding'.......ie: looks competent because of the c.unts and bellends around him? Time will tell.
Europe have fucked up majorly with the vaccine but they have also been let down massively by the drug companies not fulfilling orders. When you pay 267m up front for millions of doses and they deliver around 30% of the order (I think it was), it's a piss take. I do like the fact that my adopted country (France) are concentrating on getting the older generation fully protected with their two doses rather than hoping that one does the job for long enough.

Lads, can you keep the personal insults off the forum please. There's no need for name calling and insults just because you disagree on something.
We run a loose ship here and let the odd tear up go as people get angry or frustrated, and no one wants a forum like the old Arsenal.com abortion, but there are rules here brought in by the owners. They are posted at the top of the main page, have a read of them sometime.
