As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
My point is that I don't rate him. Just my opinion.
Who would you suggest?
I've stated for ages to go all out for Antonio Conte.
Built the base for Allegri's success at Juve and is about to secure another Scudetto with Inter.
I'd agree with you. Ancellotti was the person I thought should've taken over from wenger, closely followed by Conte. But, realistically will Conte leave Inter Milan this summer after winning Serie A, CL football guaranteed for a team in disarray with no European football? We have to be realistic over who will "drop" down to us. I still reckon Ancellotti would swap merseyside for London at a drop of a £20m a year hat. He looked pretty miserable when I saw him driving to training last week in his Rolls Royce Cullinan.
Conte isn't on good terms with the Inter hierarchy (as is the case eventually everywhere he's played and managed ) and really don't underestimate the draw of managing The Arsenal. We may have a pessimistic opinion of our club right now but the recent invitation to join the Super League suggests that the rest of football still views us as a top club, which we are.
Conte is a perfect choice - a hard bastard, not scared about upsetting big names and big egos, ample managerial experience including in this country, and most importantly a track record of success that goes with it. If he was available, we should go and get him.
But we all know that we won't - we'll stick with this prick until he's got us scrambling around in 15th next season and breathing a sigh of relief if we get to 40 points
I genuinely believe Arteta doesn't like Martinelli...
No idea why...
Last night's game was tailor made for him.
I think it goes back to Martinelli wanting to play for Brazil u-23, an Olympic qualifier, rather than play for The Arsenal. I don't understand the grudge as Willian has chosen not to play for Arsenal all season but still gets picked.
Arteta by all accounts was so impressive in his early days. He made the whole training ground staff sit up and listen. He literally started to revolutionise the atmosphere in the Club. The problem is that talk is cheap. He has never backed it up and now he’s seen as a sort of Walter Mitty. He has no experience as a Manager. He is dropping clanger after clanger week in week out. If we don’t qualify for Europe he is gone.

And this is where our board and senior leadership team are so culpable. Its easy to sound good in an interview - remember apparently what impressed them about Emery was that he'd prepared a dossier on each player and claimed he had the secrets to get them all performing better. Arteta is an articulate man for sure, and I'm sure when he's interviewed he sounds the part. How many times have we all interviewed someone who talks a great talk?
Football men on the board and running the club would never have allowed a novice to dupe them. Dein for example, a seasoned businessman and football man would never have allowed a 37 year old with no experience to take that job. If you listen to his appointment of Wenger he'd first met him years before he appointed him and watched his work from afar. How we miss that kind of board influence and insight now.......fucking goons the lot of them
May 2012: Antonio Conte starts Juventus' run of nine straight Scudetti
May 2021: Antonio Conte ends Juventus' run of nine straight Scudetti
Break the bank, offer whatever it takes. Go get him ffs!
The BBQ would be back on if this happened !
Have heard we are after John Conteh.
That, or Antonio Conti who runs the ice cream van round our way. Apparently he interviews well and has a detailed dossier on how ice cream will get the best out of the players

Apparently he does the double (cornet) every weekend. Costs £1.99. Flake and hundreds and thousands are extra.

Did someone mention Linda McCartney-Zoolander and his hemp manbag?
