ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

I was listening to a podcast the other day
Hipster

I drive my 16 year old up to dublin for training 4 times a week at the mo and that is almost 90 mins each way - like every kid I know, the headphones are on straight away so any possibility of conversation is totally blown away, so I spend large parts of the journeys listening to either american football podcasts or football podcasts, and they truly are life savers sometimes
He’s probably listening to the same podcast

André Onana is a real target in the Arsenal list, confirmed as @nos reported today. ⚪️🔴 #AFC

- Arsenal are in direct contact wih his agents since January.
- Definitive suspension period will be key to understand Onana’s future.
- Impossible to bring Szczesny back, NO chance.

Anyone know if he’s better than Emi Martinez & Leno?

Aren’t African goalies generally shit? :rubchin:

Not a lot of people know this but Sanogo was originally bought by wenger as a Goalie, (I kid you not!) but he was that shyte as a goalie arrogant wenger decided to try him out in open play - and we all know how that turned out, so Yes, you're probably correct.

Granit Xhaka is ‘tired of playing for Arsenal & ready for a new challenge’. Arsenal & AS Roma will ‘soon try & find an agreement at €18m’. Jose Mourinho ‘appreciates’ Xhaka’s ‘confidence & determination’, but have Nahitan Nandez as a back-up option. [CdS via @Sport_Witness] #afc https://t.co/qcxOYt1BuR

Reminds me of Denilson’s parting word about be “a winner”

Not surprised that Xhaka is tired, he plays like he is permanently asleep.

I’ll challenge him to win a 50/50 tackle, to pass the ball forwards more then backwards and to fuck off, never to return.

Yes i agree he could save us a few quid by not signing Odegaard who I think is a 1 good game in 5 merchant, You dont need 2 defensive midfielders so I see him either as a partner to Partey arriving late in the box or back up to ESR in the number 10.
We dont have anything to lose do we by giving him a chance?
Players do improve and develop, I remember Pires being absolute shite in his first year with us but then he developed into one of the greats, imagine letting Willock leave now only to watch him become really good elsewhere?
Get the kids in next year, we have nothing to lose, we have a free shot with no Europe. They cant do any worse can they.
Only that's not actually true is it. Pires was off the pace when he first arrived, but anyone that knows anything about football could see he was already class, and he got better and better as that first season went on. He scored a brilliant goal against Lazio early that season and scored twice against the scum in a week, the second one the winner in the FA Cup semi final. Even in his first season he was more of a big game player than Henry ever was.

If no one comes in for Pillock then sure we have nothing to lose by giving him another season, but if we get an even half decent offer then we should unload him.

80 appearances and the game passing him by in nearly every one of them is the real read of where he is as a player, rather than an end of season spurt under no pressure scoring against teams many of whose players were already more or less done with the season.

The thing with Willock is he has been here under 3 managers and barely made a dent, currently his stock is riding relatively high. If he stays and fails to cement a place then his value is unlikely to improve so I'd move him on. If he goes on to make a name for himself elsewhere good luck to him but you can't keep running a football team on possibilities, Nketiah might come good eventually, Reiss-Nelson too but how long do you keep them until you are sure, into their mid-20s?

It might be a huge mistake offloading him but only hindsight will answer that :rubchin:
