Nobody would have predicted that Sanchez would go to united and absolutely fucking bomb, nobody.

Same when Madrid signed Hazard, sure he was never going to fill the void left behind by Ronaldo (which is what he was signed to do) but likewise nobody would have thought he would go there and become total shit overnight either.

There are plenty of shit teams in La Liga Augie (Getafe for starters  ) but no matter who I’ve seen him playing against out there he’s been fucking abysmal. Madrid’s most expensive ever signing and when not permanently crocked is fucking Cabellos levels of shite.

Scenes when both of em line up in midfield next season, Madrid are fucked

Didnt I already say that ? Football across europe is the worst it has been in my lifetime

Yeah you did but you also implied that once players leave the PL and it’s banter levels of defending they can look average because they can no longer waltz through poor teams.

That doesn’t wash for me because the defending is equally (if not worse) at 80% of La Liga clubs and he’s awful out there. Same thing happened Coutihno, went to shit the day he joined Barca.

Really hard to fathom how players just totally bomb after a transfer.

Rodders the football on the continent is slower by a distance - any attacker in any league in the world will tell you that they thrive on fast ball to prevent the opposition defence from getting organised. Yes defences and quality of footballers in general is shit in other leagues, but throughout football history we have seen many examples of organised defences being hard to break down regardless of their quality or lack thereof. Sanchez in particular isnt some magician with the ball at his feet, and isnt capable of creating something out of nothing - he thrives on pace and movement and a slower supply line greatly reduces his effectiveness

Sanchez was at his best whilst playing with Ozil under Wenger. The freedom Wenger gave them brought out the best in both of them. Unfortunately that freedom came at the cost of having a cohesive style or system that could turn attack into effective defence and so we were often punished when Ozil or Sanchez lost the ball. Also we had a lot of seriously mediocre and shit players in that team.

Sanchez, like Ozil, was a player of extremes. Some games he looked like the best player in the world, other games just useless. But whereas Ozil could - and often did - get the hump and just stop trying, Sanchez nearly always gave everything in nearly every game for us.

But to me he is just the Manure cùnt at the piano. :censored:

Yeah but Alexis bombed at united, same league, up against the same shit defences, same pace of the game but overnight became unrecognisable from the lethal attacking threat he was when playing for us.

Someone mentioned Torres a few pages back, same thing, he’s career ended the day he left Liverpool.

Hazard is in the same boat now, 2 awful seasons after leaving the chavs and he’s done.

It not that these players change clubs and while still producing the goods never reach the incredible levels of performance that they once achieved - they change clubs and become so shit that they are completely unrecognisable from the players they once were.

100 million pound+ players becoming irrelevant overnight, absolutely baffling to me.

The first thing any player has to have right is their mindset or psychology. And maybe even more so the very top players. A combination of things can put a dent in their mindset: new team mates, a new city, trouble settling in, their missus on their back about the new city, the different training regime, missing friends or family, the managers man management skills - or lack thereof.

People assume the top players are like robots: press "Go" and they will deliver every time. But they often aren't that clinical.

You know yourself even at an amateur level some games you just feel great going into and you play well, other games you are pissed off or angry with work or whatever and your head is not in it and you play shit.

It's the same for a lot of top players, just more noticeable and surprising for the rest of us to see.

Alexis form was dropping before he signed for Utd.I said to a Utd fan when they signed him that he would be surprised at how bad his ball retention had got and this did continue with Utd.In his last few months for us I lost count the amount of times a move would break down because he lost the ball.

They often would only pass to each other, ignoring Walcott, Iwobi, ……… :rubchin: hang on a minute, they may have had a valid point.

I loved Sanchez, magic player, capable of some stuff not seen since Henry.
His little fake shot away at West Ham to then dink it past a keeper already on the floor was the stuff of dreams. :barscarf:
Was our best player but worked tirelessly for a team who, mostly, couldn’t give a damn about tackling, chasing, closing down.
