I'd rather buy young starlets than old has beens, step on the right direction for me. Lokonga has been in and around the Belgium side already , no mean feat considering his age.DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 9:30 pmWell I'm completely whelmed by the prospect of signing these three complete nobodies.![]()

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
As no-one at the club has any idea what our transfer policy is, is it ok that i don't understand why we are buying these players?
Ok i get the LB as we need back up for Tierney, even if none of us have ever heard of him and although i'm struggling with Lakonga he is a CM who can play DM if required and surely has to be better than Xhaka but i'm struggling with White, i currently don't see him as any better than what we have so spending £50M on a player who is barely a prospect seems......excessive
Not one of these three is what we need currently even if they are 'prospects', what it does tell me however is that Arteta expects to be here for the long term because he is buying HIS players with a view to the future which after last seasons dismal start to the season i think is, putting it politely, ambitious of him
I'm seriously wondering what Josh expects us to get 'excited' about because if they seriously want to move up a gear next season we are not going to do it with these players

Not a chance this will happen, he's off to Juvemcdowell42 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 9:47 pmSassuolo CEO Carnevali to Sky Sport: “Arsenal have made an official bid for Locatelli. They’re pushing hard to sign Manuel and it’s an important bid... we will see.
Also Juventus want Locatelli and we’ve a special relationship with them. We’ve a new meeting scheduled with Juve”.

Breaking news that AMN has been involved in a bad car crash, and has flipped his car over. I hope he’s safe and well and not injured enough to prevent any transfer out of the club.

Why is that the only option?
Why does it have to be either buy overpriced kids that might never fulfill their potential for a speculative future that might never happen, or buy old has beens?
Should we be happy that we are overspending on unproven kids, because we aren't spending on old has beens, even if those kids add nothing to help the situation we are in now?
I've an idea. Why don't we bring in the proven players we actually need for right now, put someone in charge of our Academy that has a clue what they're doing, and get our "potential for the future" there?
As a club we haven't a fucking clue what we are doing. The very fact we have a novice as manager demonstrates that clearly. Add in our humiliating failures to even achieve the most basic management of our players contracts and we are a giant world class club run like a Sunday League club.

I don’t think people realise how much financial difficulty we are in. We will have to un-wind our wage bill over a good few years whilst trying to improve the squad at the same time. That is why the Willian deal rankles. Why the fuck do you spend 2 years trying to get rid of Ozil and then do the same thing again. Someone’s on the take again (allegedly). No other explanation.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I agree with that DB, this obsession with youngsters makes no sense. We have a woefully inadequate manager with the beginnings of a Wenger complex and the last thing we need is his ideology being let loose on more youngsters. The has been players we've been saddled with lately seem to be only here to pick up a pension
Surely we should be building a core of hard working, experienced, mid career players who can help bring through the young talent we have or at the least limit the any further damage Arteta can inflict.
It would seem it is not only the management that are deluded but more of the supporters than I thought too.

Source BBC:
Portugal Under-21 left-back Nuno Tavares, 21, will have a medical at Arsenal before joining the Gunners for £7m from Benfica. (Goal)
Arsenal have made a bid for Italy's 23-year-old midfielder Manuel Locatelli, says Sassuolo chief executive Giovanni Carnevali. But they must compete with Juventus for his signature.(Metro)
I've totally lost count of the players Arsenal are / have been interested in...
Madness.

Exactly, Edu and Arteta must have shit for brains if they think it’s sensible for a cash strapped club to commit huge funds (and long contracts!) to Willian, Auba and Cedric with no resale value whatsoever.BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 7:26 amI don’t think people realise how much financial difficulty we are in. It's crazy. We literally got fucking nothing out of Huff n Puff but we're paying him allegedly 200k a week (10million a year!).BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 7:26 amI don’t think people realise how much financial difficulty we are in. Then we have the very dodgy relationship between Edu and his own agent, the parasite Kia Joorabchian. The shit this cùnt has inflicted on us - Huff n Puff, Sideshow Chav, Cedric - and to the tune of allegedly 15million into his own pocket.
Allegedly the Huff n Puff contract signing was actually done in Joorabchian's house rather than at Colney or Highbury House. Well fucking dodgy all round.

According to @SBrennerNews, Willian’s transfer to Inter Miami has collapsed after the #Arsenal star demanded more than double top earner Gonzalo Higuain’s wages. https://t.co/BvgiQYe2BO
SunSport understands the #Arsenal man wanted around £8.7m a year - £167,000 per week - to play in MLS which is too much for David Beckham's side. https://t.co/zZK2XKfha3

Arsenal have offered Reiss Nelson a new contract until 2024 to send him on loan immediatly after (current one expires in 11 months). Nelson has not accepted yet as he’s looking for other options.
#AFC
Olympiacos and three English clubs already contacted Nelson to sign him.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Reallybut i'm struggling with White, i currently don't see him as any better than what we

We play Rob fucking Holding regularly FFS! A championship level player. Look at who we have, there isn’t a single CB who you would say ‘we can’t afford not playing him, he’s that good’!!
I like Gabriel, I think he’ll be a good player despite the second half of last season, Mari is an ok backup for 10 games a season, Chambers the same maybe but if we want to be a ´top 4’ team we need a CB who we think is as important as PEA when he’s on his game, or ESR in full flow. I’ve no idea if White is that capable but we DO need it……as well as about 5 other players!

How on earth Edu has kept his job after the corrupt shit that went on in securing Willian and Cedric to long term contracts is beyond me.mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 9:39 amAccording to @SBrennerNews, Willian’s transfer to Inter Miami has collapsed after the #Arsenal star demanded more than double top earner Gonzalo Higuain’s wages. https://t.co/BvgiQYe2BO

Yet again we’ll be paying overpaid useless twats to fuck off otherwise they’ll hang around like Ozil did
