Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

The Express this morning claims that lyon have now upped the asking price for Aouar to £25m - what has sparked the increase when no club has bid is beyond me, but to me it is still a price I would pay.

I was listening to an Irish podcast yesterday evening where they had the french journo phillipe auclair (yes wenger's buddy) and he was talking in general about the state of french club football - he spoke about the collapse of a tv deal that has tore the arse out of french football, and even though amazon have signed a deal now to cover french football, it is nowhere near the same money as the previous deal was worth. He didnt use the exact phrase shitfest, but he said something along those lines (cant remember the phrase now  ) when he described the state some clubs are in (he names league champions lille in that), and he said that with the exception of psg, all french clubs are gonna need to sell just to survive.
I said it before and I will say it again, moussa dembele and Aouar would be massive additions for this Arsenal team, and both are with the right age groups for modern day AFC. I know that dembele went on loan to Ath Madrid for second half of last season and didnt score a goal, but he was injured for a while, plus (more importantly) I have seen this guy play and he is a good player. Personally I would offer lacazette and cash for both these players, and I think it would be a very good deal for all concerned 8)

Fresh link is with Tammy Abraham. Which is just baffling, we have Lacazette, PEA and Martinelli who can play down the middle and all three are better than Tammy. There is no need to sign a striker or even a wide player. All focus needs to to be at the back and in midfield.

Believe me when I say that the only reason why we should not sign abraham is because he is utter, utter dogshite - who we have or havent already got is irrelevant

Lacaztte as a makeweight ? unlikely as if all French clubs are as strapped as Auclair suggests , they won't want his wage bill . Possibly a Nketiah that would come a lot cheaper but that's just as unlikely.

Lacazette is former lyon player and has 12 months left on his contract

As A11 said mate, it's the wages that are the potential stumbling block when trying to shift our players. The transfer fee is usually negligible in comparison.

I get that, but with 12 months left on his deal laca will know that his big pay days (in europe at least) are coming to an end, so he will have to accept lower wages no matter where he goes. The cash received from us in the deals, plus removing two top players from their wage bill, should allow them some wiggle room to make the deal possible maybe ?

Danny Mills on talksport is on fire. First he says Man United should have been in for Ben White over Varane as White has 'proven it in the premier league', where as you know Varane has only 4 CL winners medal a World Cup medal. According to Mills proving adequacy in the premier league is the gold standard in world football. Then he said Ben White was 'better' than Arsenal and should not be moving here.

Im all for White signing & think he is a good player. But what is it with shit pundits with no respect for La Liga, Serie A or the Bundesliga. You can throw in Andy Gray too, the villain who first raised the idea of whether Messi would do it at Stoke. The questions is not whether Messi could hack it in the premier league, the question is if he played in the premier league would he break the goal scoring record.
Danny Mills is, and always will be, a bitter, talentless cünt, who holds resentment towards Arsenal because we used to slap him team, whenever they rolled into Highbury.

I'll never forget when Henry made an absolute mug of the prick at the corner flag at Highbury when we beat Boro.

As for Ben White; I actually had to Google him when we were first linked. Then again, the only Brighton defender I know is Dunk, so...there's that.

Or he could see his contract out, move on a free and end up with a salary like Willian. :banghead:

True but he is on 9 & 1/2 million pounds a year . He will be trying for a last contract but won't at 30 yrs old be looking for a major reduction in salary.
