Tasked with the choice of global managers we managed to stumble upon one more tactically inept than Wenger
As most of us of sane mind knew, getting rid of Wenger was needed.....but we all feared for the fucktards tasked with picking the new manager(s)

I will NEVER understand the large amount of support Arsenal fans had in favour of appointing Arteta - both when Wenger left and when he replaced Emery. It's a huge sign of the accepted mediocrity and shite that the Kroenke era has offered us.
I was sold a brief dream when we won that FA Cup. We looked hard to beat after the re-start of the season and we won big games. That FA Cup final win felt like that start of something new. Something exciting. That was all a lie. We have rapidly turned to shit from the very start last season. They are the same issues week in, week out. The same tactic (exploit the left, if that does t work then keep trying). We look so disjointed whenever he makes a sub, it's almost funny now. EVERY! SINGLE! TIME! How can you be THAT bad at making subs?
His in-game management is some of the worst I've seen at PL level. It's nothing short of inept. It's all the same. No matter who we are playing.
That brief dream was an illusion born out of water-breaks and a disrupted season. The cold hard reality is that Arteta isn't good enough to manage in the PL, let alone Arsenal - a team so obviously in need of an experienced hand at the helm.

We are one of the big three clubs in this country and don't let anyone else try to tell you different.
Neither Liverpool or Man Utd would appoint a total novice to his first job in management.
Liverpool have always appointed experience (sometimes getting it wrong but that does happen) or in the old days of the Boot Room have appointed from within but still experienced people.
The Mancs are sometimes a bit more adventurous but even Solskaer managed at a lower level first for a few years and learned the job.
All three clubs have the pull to attract ANY manager in the world. Personal terms dictating whether they join or not.
I know I'm going over old ground again but it's all just sitting there festering inside me.
I wish Arteta no ill will personally. I still maintain that one day he probably will turn out to be very good but I'm just wishing he would go as soon as possible.

I think he may be closer than we realise to losing the dressing room.

Sorry to say, him winning the FA Cup was undoubtedly the worst thing that could have happened to us.
Under Arteta we have had 15 games with us losing at half time, and of those have resulted in 11 losses and 4 draws. No motivation or tactical nous when we're behind

Judging by his poor demeanor at his pre-match press conference you may well be right. I think something is going on behind the scenes.Arsenal Till I Die wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 1:41 pmI think he may be closer than we realise to losing the dressing room.

My reference point for a victory like that is when the chavs won the champs league with peanut head in charge - everyone and their dog knew that it was the senior players that took control of that dressing room and drove them to success, and not di matteo. We won the fa cup when the senior players who downed tools under emery decided that they wanted to prove a point, and it was that they made the difference imo
Re: Mikel Arteta, success or failure? - Merged thread.
Just a thought, if the club had true faith in Arteta, why have they only loaned out, and not sold the players he doesn't want at the club, like Guendouzi, Torreira and Saliba?
Re: Mikel Arteta, success or failure? - Merged thread.
They only reason he got the job was because he was a former player. Same reason Ole got the United job and Lampard got the Chelsea job. There is precedent of clubs giving a job to a manager if they were a former player who played for a few seasons.
Although Arteta was one of the mugs Wenger threw in the trolley after the 8-2 thrashing at Old Trafford. He wouldn't be our manager if United only beat us 1-0 that day. Its almost comical the sequence of events that has allowed Arteta to become our manager. Literally, if any of Cesc or Nasri were not sold, and we were not thrashed by United that day, there is no way he is our present manager. Its by pure accident he has got himself this job.
The guy has been failing upwards ever since he joined us. At best a discount replacement for Cesc, at worst a Wenger panic buy (which is more likely). Then somehow becomes our captain and fixes nothing of the problems that have dogged us despite a leadership position. Then he goes and sits on Pep's bench for a year as a number two, and suddenly he is ready to manage us. Steve McClaren was Fergusons number 2, doesn't mean McClaren is a top manager cut out to manage a top club.
Should never have been signed. Should never have been named captained. Should never have been made our manager. Like I said, Arteta has failed upwards since he joined us. Arteta owes so much of his career to Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young.

I read a story about when he was captain, collecting the fines for players being late for training etc. At the end of the season it didn’t go to charity, instead he bought Ivan Gazidis a very expensive watch………wilson2.0 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:50 amThey only reason he got the job was because he was a former player. Maybe he comes across very well, he may well be passionate about our once great club, but at the moment he is out of his depth.

Reminds me of my manager at work
Is able to arse lick all the senior people around him to get on but is actually crap at his job and over promoted.
I still look back to the last game I went to at the Emirates - the embarrassing exit to Olympiakos in the Europa League (feb 2020).
Arteta’s decisions that night were so poor - anyone else in charge would have got us through that game, I remember the murmur rings in the North Bank. Clearly out of his depth….but then COVID turned up and he got away with things for a bit.

Arteta is undoubtedly a master at office politics. It has got him where he is. The thing is that works in big companies where you can float around and never get found out. Arteta is under the microscope now. Someone needs to buy him some armbands.

I really can't stand the guy and can't wait until he is gone, so that we can all project greatness on the next appointment
This is the worst football that I have ever seen, but now I can't see any improvement until the Kroenkes sell up. They have been an incompetent disaster and a wonder how they don't hemorage all of their earnings elsewhere if they run their businesses like this.

Arteta has doubled down on his training philosophy this season, with players reporting intense sessions focused on playing the ball out from the back. Some observers are said to feel Arteta’s frequent interventions & very technical approach make sessions hard to follow. [Mail] https://t.co/FIb4ZzJS4A
