ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Chamakh, Giroud, Gervinho. Fucking hell, we've had some utter rubbish up front for us over the last decade. I have a memory of Chamakh being clean through against West Ham, I think and stopping and running back towards the half way line.

He’s only scored 4 goals in 18 games for Sociedad, we’ve enough strikers hitting those numbers, let’s fucking hope he’s only here on holiday
Isn't that the same goal - game ratio as Eddie Nketiah?

Before everyone starts getting negative about his goal return, Henry's goal return was worse when he signed for us.

Arsenal have rejected a second bid from Crystal Palace for striker Eddie Nketiah. #AFC #CPFC #Nketiah
Are we fucking mental?

Tomorrow night the LA rams will be aiming for their 2nd super Bowl appearance in the last 4 years, and when in need of a QB to vastly improve their team they signed Matthew Stafford, now compare this to how Kroenke runs Arsenal. When signings are made it's always offset with selling who we can, and any chance to bring the club forward is never taken because of the greed of this dickhead. The people that are still going week in week out are helping to facilitate shit like this transfer Window. Only when Kroenke gets hit in the pocket will he consider selling the club.

As a huge NFL fan I can tell you with total confidence that your comment doesnt tell the full story. His la rams have traded away 2022 and 2023 first round draft picks in trades for experienced proven winners - the accepted narrative in the media is that his LA rams are in "win now" mode and are 100% committed to doing whatever is needed to achieve that. During this season they traded for Von Millar (won a superbowl with denver) and odell beckham (no relation to david  ), and both are universally recognised as top level players. Contrast that with how his london hobby is run - dont invest in top quality, and get as many wages off the books as is humanly possible. The premier league will do some laughing at us if we look for another postponement due to a lack of players

Players like Henry only come along once in a lifetime .

Don't get your hopes up.

We spent 120m in the summer. We are showing intent. I believe we haven't signed anyone because the players we identified are not easy options. Truth is signing good players isn't easy, especially in January. A lot of deals happen on deadline day. Im hoping we can sign either Wijnaldum or Melo, although both appear to be dependent on PSG getting Ndombele or Juventus getting Zakaria.

Im really hoping the deadline day actions happens, but there is part of me that thinks we will get no one. And it wouldnt be for lack of ambition - im positive Edu and Arteta really would have tried. But all the same its a failure if we miss out on top 4

Sorry Wilson but that is pure sophistry, apologies to those who don't like 'big' words

We spent between £120-150 million depending on valuations on 6 players none of whom were truly PL proven and realistically that isn't a vast amount of money in today's climate.

Some of them have worked out well, some not so well. Let's be honest we haven't bought a truly 'big' name since Auba.
