Yup! Has very good skills and can provide those 'Killer Balls / Passes' BUT he needs to Bulk up - He still gets 'nudged'
Off the ball too easily for me liking.

I do too , tbink he'll only get better and 30 million will be a steal.DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 4:09 pmI like him but he frustrates me. Reminds me a lot of Ozil. Obviously very technically gifted with the ball but hugely inconsistent. I hope he kicks on next year and starts producing assists on a regular basis.gooner265 wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 8:14 amWill be our captain next year nailed on.augie wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 9:26 pmAm stunned at hearing that odeargod is legohead's pet![]()

Hmm... for me hasn't done enough to warrant a new contract or contract extension. I honestly don't think he will be successful with us but obviously as an Arsenal supporter I hope he is. I think the club should have waited to see how we finished this season and then if he pushes us on in the PL next season. He was under contract until the end of next season. The board have jumped the gun here.gooner265 wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 8:47 amGood newsmcdowell42 wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 8:41 amMikel Arteta has extended his Arsenal contract until the end of the 2024-25 season

Going to look really stupid if we lose 2 of our remaining games and hand 4th to sperz.

For the contract extension to be signed now confirms everything that I feared - that the ambition of the club is not to get into the top 4 and meaningfully compete even higher. No it is merely to compete for a top 4 place and if we miss out on it then so what, it is not as if there will be any investment in the team should we get there.
It is why I can no longer go to the Emirates because whilst Kroenke owns this club there is ZERO ambition to get any better.
That’s the brutal reality of where we are at.

Not sure why they didn't wait until last game of the season or when top 4 was decided regardless. What difference would another fortnight make?
Obviously, Captain Black was going to get a new contract, but as good as this season has been, the true test will be next season with potentially having to rotate the squad with European football.
Unai Emery was in a similar position in his penultimate season...

Can you not see how him signing now if anything provides a psychological fillip to the team with every game now being a cup final for us?Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 9:08 amFor the contract extension to be signed now confirms everything that I feared - that the ambition of the club is not to get into the top 4 and meaningfully compete even higher. And with regards to ambition, Kroenke has allowed net spending to the tune of £330m over the last five years. You can criticise him all you like, but as billionaires go he has the dosh and is starting to open the clip.
Giving Arteta a new contract provides stability, if he fucks up there always is PV4 in the wings as long as he doesn't go to City.
BTW I see football as social occasions, as much as going to the games these days. Fancy saying to your mates, I don't fancy a beer with you because I am boycotting the club. Unless you are a Norman no mates of course

Re: Mikel Arteta, success or failure? - Merged thread.
If we don't get top 4 then essentially Arteta is being rewarded for bringing us out of Europe and back into the EL. For a big club, we sure act like a small one.
Re: Mikel Arteta, success or failure? - Merged thread.
I don't have a problem with competing for the top 4 as a short term ambition. Catching up with Victims* and Manchester City next season is unlikely. However like the Victims* did when Klopp came in, it has to lead somewhere and not be a repeat of 2006-2016 with consecutive top 4 finishes and a couple of half ars3d attempts at actually winning the league.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 9:08 amFor the contract extension to be signed now confirms everything that I feared - that the ambition of the club is not to get into the top 4 and meaningfully compete even higher. If Arsenal make Champions League they have to strengthen squad. Otherwise, it could be the last time they are there for a few more years.
