Arsenal has submitted an official offer for Lille winger Edon Zhegrova (23 years)
Another winger from Lille.

File under Gervinho and Pepe.
Bought those two from there but didn't bother making a decent bid for Eden Hazard when he wanted to join us.
I'm sure Madrid would be quite happy to offload Hazard now. With his injury record, he should fit in quite well. :D

We'd probably offer more today than we did when we needed him 12 years ago and pay him about ten times as much.

🚨 || Arsenal are feeling very confident for Lisandro Martínez. By the time Utd came in, Arsenal had already advanced & the player was already sold on the project. Arteta taking more responsibility this window. Speaking to targets [Via - @JacobsBen].

.@JacobsBen: “[Lisandro] Martinez was very sold on talking to Arteta. From what I understand, Arteta is taking a much more active direct role in this transfer window than in previous ones - he’s calling up players, he’s pitching the club directly, he’s co-selling with Edu.” #afc https://t.co/b3S6w6ga2f

It's a sales pitch to the idiot fans. Keep repeating words like "project" and it gives the idea that we are moving towards an end result, but no end date is ever suggested. The idea is to lower expectations, something the club have been doing since the stadium move. Once you have bought into the idea that it's a project, you're less likely to expect success anytime soon, you'll be more patient and be prepared to wait for the project to reach it's conclusion...whenever the fuck that is, which they'll never tell us of course.

When you consider how we imploded last season, when twice during the final 2 months being in comfortable poll position for 4th place (and allowing the scum to get 4th, which was the worst part of it all), it's incredible how Arteta has walked away scot free and without having to answer any tough questions. Emery was sacked for less. However, people have bought the idea that we actually over-achieved and did well to stay in the hunt so long. Our supporters are clowns and the club plays them and takes then for the mugs they are. Still, have faith in the project chaps.

❗️Exclusive News Bernd #Leno: Verbal agreement with Fulham about a contract until 2025 + 1 year optional. Now the clubs have to find an agreement. Arsenal demands around £10-11m transfer fee. Leno is the desired No. 1 of Fulham. He wants to join them. #FFC #Gunners @SkySportDE 🇩🇪

A good move for him, a brilliant signing for them.

It will allow him to play centre stage for a few months before World Cup, and he should save Fulham a few points.

Never world class, but was an upgrade of what we’ve had over the last few years.

Just like the rhetoric “we don’t sign superstars, we make them”

Lowers the expectations……

Justifies not spending…..

If you didn’t buy into it, you were accused of being plastic and told to follow Chelsea / Man City, who bought talent and finished product alike.

Gives a huge excuse that can be used for a few years until the emperor was laid bare for all to see, with his Willy hanging out

(speaking of which, what has happened to our old mucker Herd ? Not been on here for quite a while, hope he hasn’t been accosted on one of his moonlight walks on Hampstead Heath ? )

Don’t begrudge him a move at all - too good and too old to play second fiddle

We will have Fabianski, Martinez, and Leno all as ex keepers at clubs in the premier league :rubchin:
After all those years of Almunia as our ( and nearly England’s of Wenker had his way no 1)

Arsenal intermediaries held talks with Leicester city officials today over the transfer of midfielder Youri Tielemans.

🚨 Arsenal have now submitted a offer for £23m with £10m extra in performance related add ons

Apparently clubs are not far from agreeing package

Presumably the agreement over a package is that we've agreed to send them a package of board games from Amazon or some clothes from Zalando. In terms of buying a player off them, we're probably nowhere near agreeing anything.

We seem to be paying big fees for players with a year left on their contracts.

Damned if one does, damned if one doesn't. The club gets criticised for submitting bids below the asking price, yet when we do submit an acceptable bid it is deemed as overpaying.

We paid 45 million for a 25 yr old PL proven striker, Sterling who is 2 years older is going to Chelsea for around the same price.

30 million for a quality PL proven CM like Tielemans seems like a bargain. Kalvin Phillips went to city for 40 million +.
