🚨 Arsenal & Chelsea need to go to £90m to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton, with the player’s rebellious actions leaving the club’s stance unchanged. [@MiguelDelaney] #afc

They’d be fucking brain dead to keep him and turn down the cash after what he wrote last night. I’d be amazed if he doesn’t leave before the deadline.

Unless they believe 100% in the character of the player and believe that he will get his head down after Tuesday when he is still with them ? To be fair it is only 3 days ago since the player himself came out with a statement stating categorically that he was focused 100% on Brighton, so maybe they think that they can talk him back around ? Some players are fundamentally decent lads that can be led astray by agents, and maybe they think that he is an honourable lad ?
Of course lesson number 1 is that you dont make a statement like that unless you are 100% committed - if Brighton had of accepted our bid he would be well within his rights to go and do so with a clear conscience, but to make that statement and then do a u turn within 3 days to try and force your way out does not reflect well on him
Once a player agitates for a move it severely weakens the hand of the selling club. They’ve got to be seen to be digging in and at least giving the impression he won’t be off to maximise the transfer fee.

Keeping an unhappy player never ends well and would be foolish of Brighton to do so here from both a financial and football viewpoint.

We dabbled with Tielemens and Douglas Luiz in the summer but their situation was a good bit different in that both are in the last year of their contracts. So even though they didn’t get their desired move away the sweetener was to hang around where they were for one more season and trouser all the monies as free agents in 12 months. That definitely softens the blow for them and I reckon that’s how it was sold to them by their clubs and agents.

That sweetener doesn’t apply here, Caicedo is contracted until 2025 so unlike Tielemens and Luiz who didn’t want to jeopardise a big pay out he has had to try and force his own move through.

Fair fucks if they keep him and as you say maybe they feel he has the character to handle the disappointment but it’s a massive risk to take if his form bombs on the back of this.

We need someone in that position badly so if it becomes apparent they’re not allowing him to leave then we need to move to the next target as a matter of urgency (as we did with Trossard to be fair).

My only real gripe here is that your statement could have been said 5 months ago and been as true then as it is now, but yet we wait until there is just 3 days left in transfer window to make our move - giving selling club enough time to source and buy a replacement would make it considerably easier to convince them to sell him, but we seem to think that they should buckle at 3 days notice

Real Madrid rule out move for declan rice

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footb ... senal.html

Of course they do - in other equally relevant news, real madrid have also ruled out making a move for sumo sid from the Dog and Duck pub team, and are also not interested in angry Dave from my local club side

Who the fcuk writes this shit ? The biggest club in the world is NEVER going to be interested in a plodder like declan rice  FFS he isnt even in england's top 3 centre midfielders

Arsenal will still want midfield cover, but initial checks have shown that Thomas Partey's injury is not a serious one.

Will be assessed further in the coming days but expectation is he'll be fit for Everton. #AFC

£65m with £5m as add ons if targets reached seems fair to me.

What's another 15mil to the club. Just pay what they want and go for the title
