I suppose if the ref has not seen an obvious foul that stopped their keeper from getting to the ball, allowing the goal to be scored, it's an obvious error. But what about the Saka foul? It looked more like a foul than our disallowed goal but was not looked at? Or given!

VAR is meant as an augmentation, an aid to the on field officials. Its being used to re-referee the games though.

Technically yes it was a foul (barely) but hardly a clear and obvious error by the referee.

VAR aside we are not creating anything. Not one clear cut chance. We need to mix it up a lot more - but also don’t over commit as they could be dangerous on the counter. Be patient in the middle of the park but a lot more direct in the final third, playing it forward with more pace sometimes and we can take three points
