I didn’t pargivularh anticipate we’d fuck it up today, but I did expect us to drop points in the 10 game run in that we were not “supposed” to drop. For me, is winning the title is/was dependent on City also dropping points - perhaps right at the end away to Brighton/Brentford. Maybe against a Chelsea team with players looking to make a mark. Maybe even Everton? Of course Man City are favourites to win every game, but I’d love us to stay within 2/3 points of them come the final three games, as their last three fixtures could be somewhat tricky. Though to be in touching distance even we probably now need a draw at least at the Etihad.

We'll have to see the final points total for this side at the end of the season, for comparison I've checked previous seasons totals going back, time will tell where this side stands, they are young, the manager is still learning his trade. I don't think anyone really knows where this team will be historically at present.

1971 85 adjusted.
1989 86
1991 83
1998 78
1999 78
2002 83
2003 78
2004 90
2008 83
2014 79
2015 75
2016 71
2017 75

They are still in contention for a decent haul of points. :barscarf:

Are we better when coming from behind when we have something to chase and we have to attack?

I'd expect some rotation for Southampton but then all focus is on City. I think it's our cup final. Beat City and we can dream again

We are all - Well Most Of Us are "Hurting" and Feeling Very Depressed about the outcome of today's game... I know I am and I Totally Get it (The Rage and the P*ssed Off and Angry Comments) But to start calling for Arteta to go is a part of the Anger and Disappointment.

And of course all the Negative posters that have been doing more than their fair share of Wumming comments these past 6 weeks or so are now Out In Force.

They seem to be delighting in today's hurtful outcome because those same people can say "See I Told You So, I Told You We Weren't Good Enough to Win The Title" _ see I was right al l along - I'm a long standing fan, I'm a ST Holder :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah:

It is perfectly natural to be angry and vent that anger and frustration and I am with you on that, but some of the comments here today are Puerile and Pathetic.

Yes, anyone with a modicum of intelligence (there are those who don't even have that - thinking that arrogance is the same as intelligence) knows that we are not going to be what we might be as a team, as long as we have the likes of xhaka, holding and vieira as part of the squad, but Arteta and Edu can only off-load so much of the dross each window, and I am certain they will get rid of more of the dross come the next window and bring in better quality players, but till then they have to operate within their given means.

This season is a Golden Opportunity to cash in on the mess that the chavs, scousers and manure find themselves in - And if we do fuck it up - we may not get another chance like this for ages, especially as ALL the competition will be improving and buying the best players etc etc etc

I am Gutted at today's draw; especially having seen us play superbly and go 2 goals up against a team there for the taking to the cleaners....I know I won't be able to sleep tonight because of the Frustration, Hurt and Anger (unlike some of the WUM's who will go to sleep with a smile on their boat race).. BUT Until The Fat Lady Sings... I will keep Hoping, I will continue getting angry and calling Clive for the cun.t he is BUT I will Not Give Up till it is done and dusted one way or the other... Silly me! ???<Gallic Shrug>. :proudtosay:

Saka hid out on the touch line for the whole second half. It was Wenger levels of self harm to hand him the ball for the penalty, should have been Jesus who initially had the ball who took it.

Awful awful display, not a single player took ownership of that game once it started to go south. Partey when we needed him most in the last 2 game has tanked, really hope we bin him off in the summer.
I don't think its a coincidence hes droped off since the latest ews broke a few weeks ago.

I agree with you mate that there are those on here who are delighting in the dropped points. BUT, Arteta doesn't get to skate on this one.......this insane obsession with Xhaka will continue to cost us. And as for offloading dross, Xhaka is on top of the dross heap, yet he is the first name on the team sheet??? And ESR, wtf is going on there....how does Viera, and almost everyone else on the bench, get on ahead of him??? If I had to point out the biggest problem with the team it would be xhaka, week in, week out. Odegaard is not a Kante, he is a creative player, he thrives in space and needs protecting. Xhaka gives him none of that, so when the going gets tough, Odegaard gets bullied off the park. Xhaka will be there until HE wants to leave, that is on Arteta!! :banghead: :banghead:

Really can't disagree with most of this tbh, with the exception of Xhaka. He didn't fuck up yesterday it was Partey when we were cruising. But I am not gonna dig out Thomas he has been crucial in our title charge. As has Saka, as soon as he picked the ball up off Jesus for the pen I was worried. His body language didn't seem right, a bit like when he took that fated pen in the Euros. For me Jesus, as the man with the experience in these high pressure situations should 100% have taken it.

I now have a mental default that we will be 2nd, I have said to other Gooners for that to change we will need a season in the 1989 proportions including a win at City.

Very, very disappointing but if the Kroenke's get one thing from this season, it's fucking hard to win the PL and it takes a lot of money these days to make a competitive team. We have to get a DM along the likes of RIce or Caicedo this summer, we have to get another CB that is as good as Saliba and Gabriel. The drop off from having Holding in defence is noticeable we have started shipping goals. I like Estipinan at LB if KT decides to move on as well.

Going to all the home games before the end of the season now, will continue to support. What else can you do?

FFS how long is he gonna be allowed live off that crap ? He is in the job long enough now to not be allowed use inexperience and age as an excuse - nagelsman didnt get a free pass cos he is 35 years old, but arteta at 41 gets defended based on the lack of experience he had when he got the job. It isnt age or inexperience that is stopping him recognising xhaka as the useless c.unt he is, and likewise it is blindness and stupidity that is stopping him seeing vieira as the lightweight pussy that he is

I never expected to win the league this season and said all along I would be ok with coming second to city as long as it wasnt on the back of a collapse - this feels like a collapse and it is hard trying not to lose my head over it. Snidey comments on this thread having a go at other posters "negativity" is just plain deflecting - you seen the weaknesses in the team the same as we all did (and you openly criticised them) so it isnt a case of we are right and you were wrong, but you chose to believe that we could win a league with xhaka as key starter in the team, when every bit of logic would tell you that could never happen.

It is not being 'snidey' to call some posters on their Negativity Augie, but there is a difference between being Negative & Doom Laden (some people are just naturally like that) and being a WUM who when things go their way add to the hurt with their antagonism simply because that's how they get their jollies. We all know that there are Big Weaknesses in the team/squad (xhaka, holding, vieira). And why? Oh! The Fuck Why? Arteta insists on selecting xhaka is a complete and utter mystery. His choice of holding is because his hands are tied, we sadly don't have another option available with Tomi crocked (not that he wold be any use anyway)... But there are posters who cannot wait to stir the shyte and obviously do Delight in us dropping points.

City have got their Mojo back whilst we seem to have hit a major stumbling block; our fist one proper all season... But we can still succeed if results ($hitty's go badly) and we regain the momentum we had. What are we supporters/fans supposed to do? Give Up? Yes some will whilst those who have a (WUM) agenda come on and stir the shyte (not you btw as you have always made your stance clear for years)...

So when I call the WUM's and their Negativity, it is because it is so Obvious. They hide behind little snide comments and when things go badly for us, they are on here giving it large.

So should we succeed they will act surprised.. but have a low profile... and should we fuck up - They will be all over the forum saying "See I Told You We'd Fail etc". Why? Because they're C.U.N.T.s.

Thanks Augie. This is what I simply don’t get. I and others are simply calling out what we see with our own eyes. And yet we are negative. The same posters then lose their shit on the match thread but for some reason that is allowed. It’s bizarre to witness. The mental gymnastics that take some posters from committing hari kari after sensibly setting out our issues (Holding, Xhaka, Partey, Arteta etc) but then deciding the next morning that despite all this we are going to win the League against a side that have won 10 straight games. The mind boggles.

But I’m the pessimistic WUM….(at least I’m consistently negative)

If we don’t win it this season it will be hugely disappointing as it is a big chance we’ve ended up with - one we were never expecting to have. That said, and presuming we don’t totally collapse from here and finish with a minimum of , say, 85 points, I’m not sure there’s a reason for overly strong criticism of any indivudal, including Arteta. If we fail in the end it will bascially come down to the fact that City have greater strength in depth to cover their first choice 11, while we have had to rely on make do replacements like Holding and Tierney, as well as being unable to rest key players - again due to the falloff in quality. As soon as there’s a new face or two in the starting 11 we struggle, while City usually still cruise. That will probably decide it in the end.
