Nobody can put it off forever. I remember 20-30 years ago clubs like Coventry and Luton used to scrape survival year after year, coming alive for half a dozen games or so. Eventually the luck runs dry, they go down and expect to bounce back straightaway...and when it doesn't happen it can end in disasterrodders999 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 9:18 pmCould be financial ruin if they don’t get back up at the first attempt, what a terrible shame that would beSteveO 35 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 9:15 pmImagine having that swanky new ground hosting Luton and Plymouth next seasonrodders999 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 9:02 pmCity will put 6 past Everton, the white flag has gone up at Goodison. They’re grumbling about Dyche already and have zero goal threat.

Yep,the 2 draws with Southampton and the loss at Goodison have cost us big timefalkirk goon wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 8:51 pmOne thing for sure is that we'll be getting the big fat Geordie boaby right up the fartbox unlubed when we go there It'll be like last season but probably 4-0 instead of 2.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 8:39 pmNewcastle 13 points behind with a game in hand, smashing teams all over the place. Next game at home to Southampton - you know the 20th place team currently losing at home to Bournemouth. The ones with Walcott up front. Who couldn't beat them eh?
So thats 10 points. Then they play us 7 points.
I wonder if we can do a Spurs and come third in a two horse race
Any hopes we had of Everton doing us a favour against the cheats looks very unlikely..Not that it would matter now.So it looks like 2 of the teams going down have cost us 7pts in total ffs
Winning both v saints and a draw at Everton would give us another 5 points and still in contention.
Hey ho, just got to accept that we were not quite up to the challenge
Re: other matches this weekend
A draw in the spurs game is a pretty good result for us, good to see neither of them win! Means spurs are still very unlikely to get top 4 but also that united don’t close the gap to much on us

Re: other matches this weekend
Don't think Everton would do a Luton or Coventry , more than likely to be more of a Yo-yo club like Villa are, usually every decade or so, I think Villa were even in the Third Division back in the early '70's?
Even clubs like Wolves who went down to the Forth Division at one stage have managed to get back to the top tier eventually. These clubs mentioned all have big support & that counts sooner or later.
Whereas Luton, Coventry, Oxford & QPR are essentially much smaller clubs who had some success when in the top division, also other bigger clubs like Sheffield United / Wednesday & Sunderland will still have the support to eventually return to the top flight.
Support is still a consideration, with a ground to match, even more so in the lower leagues. Players at that level still like to play at the largest stadiums.

Watching Palace v West Ham with some Palace supporting mates
Amazing how West Ham suddenly look like the shit they've been all season
Wonder if Palace can become the 2nd team this season to give away a 2 goal lead against them

Just watching the second half and how the fuck VAR can give that penalty against the scummy shammers is beyond belief, the defender's arm reaches out and makes brief contact with Eze's arm (who is a good player btw) the defenders hand doesn't even grasp or grab hold of Eze's arm... yet he collapses like the Hindenburg ballon... Terrible decision.
So in some ways it's comforting to know that VAR doesn't just Fuck us over...

Amazing isn't it? Moyes moans about VAR on Wednesday or whenever it was and the following game, they get a penalty to shut him up .OneBardGooner wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 1:26 pmJust watching the second half and how the fuck VAR can give that penalty against the scummy shammers is beyond belief, the defender's arm reaches out and makes brief contact with Eze's arm (who is a good player btw) the defenders hand doesn't even grasp or grab hold of Eze's arm... yet he collapses like the Hindenburg ballon... I've no idea with this game any more. I'm not sure who plays for who and what you can and can't get a penalty for.augie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 9:14 pmPerryashburtongroves wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 1:33 pmAmazing isn't it? Hoping the inevitable gets done ASAP- City to pound Fulham today. The sooner this shit gets done and puts us out of our misery the better
