Just watching the Arsenal v Juventus game from 2001/02 Long Before VAR and the game was so much better without it

TH14 Scoring one of his Amazing Free Kicks - Top Left Bins! 8)

So you were happy that the handball on the line in the 2001 cup final wasn't given

Not at all - and I agree the problem isn't VAR but those using it, but having said that until they Do or are able to use it correctly then as a presence in the game (and an important one at that) we would be better off without it; especially as the way it is being mis-used is beginning to take the spntenaity and enjoyment out of the game. ie: The Scoring of goals.

Absolutely. VAR has sucked the life and soul and the enjoyment out of football.

People keep saying "wah wah but it works in rugby".

Fuck rugby. :censored: It's a slow fucking boring shit game played by weirdo closet jobs. Adding a 5 minute stoppage to fucking look at VAR would make no difference to that nonsense of a sport ffs.

Just to play devil's advocate.......a lot of people think the officials are 'bent' and are anti-Arsenal, if VAR goes that's not going to change is it? It's just that their mistakes will not get the same publicity?!! :rubchin:

I thought VAR would be a good thing as I stupidly thought it might prevent the bias / corruption

But having the same people on VAR as are out on the pitch the next week just gives them twice the opportunity to get results the way they want.

True. Also in the other European leagues: La Ligue, Bundesligue, Eredivisie & Serie A etc They have the Match Officials who officiate the actual games and never do the VAR stuff AND they have the VAR Officials who never go near the pitch as the Live Officiating and The Officiating of VAR are deemed 'specialist' areas of Football. Which makes sense.

That's how it should be, because a Mike Dean proved..... He made VAR decisions based on his friendship with the ref on the pitch!! It's actually more open to abuse than just having a ref :banghead:

As was shown in the Liverpool / Scum match it was the VAR operator who said that the on pitch decision was offside/ no goal - are you happy with that ?
The two other clowns 🤡 were too busy congratulating themselves with a perfect call to notice they had fucked up big time.

Fully agree VAR should be separate from refs / match officials

On a serious note, who would people have as head of VAR to sort it all out?

The use of VAR in the Premier League has done more to expose the sub-par standard of referees in the league than anything else ever could. The system designed to help them has instead outed them for being shite further.

I was nodding in agreement with Richard Keys. I was aware of the two people receiving a phone call and instructed to tow the line and to quieten down in the criticism of match officials. The standard is woeful both in the middle and VAR room at Stockley Park.

Keith Hackett ex PL ref

He needs to name them to have any credibility

Received a phone call from who exactly ?

Why would VAR be any better standard than the refs on the pitch when it’s the same bunch of clowns 🤡

Sky have access to Webb for their shite programme going through refereeing decisions (errors). In exchange for their support he lets them air their programme. Webb wants backing if Sky are to get access to him. Hence Sky taking a bonkers view on the clusterfuck decisions we have seen this season.
