Modern Football Bol**cks

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

When did it become the norm for broadcasters to apologies for ‘unsavoury’ language from the crowd?

What kind of soppy cuńt gets offended by swearing from/during a football game?
:D time is coming when you will be reported for swearing by someone (anomously) sitting near you via text and next thing you know your out of the ground or worse nicked....in fact its already here!!

The anonymous text thing has been in place at The Bowl for ages now mate, the season before the Pandemic (I think?) a guy two rows down from me in the North Bank was giving Sterling real dogs abuse (when he was at Cheaty) lines like "Oi! Sterling You Fucking Wife Beating *word censored*!" when they were taking a corner and about 2 minutes later 3 stewards turned up; they had the Plod with them and he was escorted away didn't see him for the rest of the game. As far as I know there is a number that can be texted (inside the Emirates) to Report Abuse etc... Thing is the fan was only telling the Truth :?

I think that’s Pernod the reason I’m rapidly falling out of love with football, to be honest. I didn’t invest my time as a lad in the ‘global’ game; that’s all it is now. Watching the game on TV seems like some faux-American sportsball shyte. Paying to watch games (the ones they choose to put on Sky/BT) is robbery, I cannot justify the price of a season ticket for a few games of football; I go to the odd game, but the bowl is a soulless heap. The new generation of players don’t care who they play for anymore.

There’s no pride in the shirt - in the PL at least. We buy so many players from all over that the whole meaning if “what it means” to play for a club loses value. All that matters now is the money and the fame the money buys (City et al).

VAR, as evidenced many times, has sucked the last remaining joy of the game away. Yesterday was the absolute pinnacle of how shite VAR is - it relies on corruptible and fallible people who, through bias or incompetence, show they’re likely to make mistakes - or just completely sabotage things.

All in all, I’m just bored of it all.

The irony is that apart from the VAR decision, yesterday was the day that reminded everyone how great the FA Cup can actually be.

Put it this way I would rather watch more Coventry City v Manchester United matches than have EIGHT largely meaningless Champions League group matches next season.

This is actually the last great season of the old era before it really turns to shit next season

Pity it wasn't available in wengers reign, I'd have text them saying,
"You see that guy standing in front of the Arsenal dugout in a stupid coat he can't zip up, he's been abusing his position for years"

totally agree with all that mate, sounds strange but all the new stadiums and sitting in your seat with your £5 burger or whatever with some fucker listening to what you are saying has made it welcome to new clients ....i would go back to the old Highbury days in a flash if i had the choice

I concur with everything that you and ATID have said.

I can pinpoint the exact day that I lost that feeling of enjoyment going to football..... I went to the very first game at the bowl, with my brother, and turned round to him and said "this stadium is fucking shit ", and nearly 20 years later I haven't changed my opinion.

In 2010 after many, many years of waiting I was offered a season ticket, the thieving c.unts wanted £1400 to sit up in the gods. I told them to poke it. I hated the stadium and still do, I was sick of the old French fucker, I had had enough of the split in the fan base, had little time for half the players and the way football was becoming more and more about the money.

I didn't go back for 5 years, and by then we was in the last year's of TOF and it was worse. I barely go now. I find it difficult to justify spending circa £150 to spend the day at football when you factor in ticket, travel, beer, food, more beer

I miss Highbury, unfortunately the JCLs just wouldn't get it

Great posts lads. Agree with evert single word. Some of the happiest times in my life were spent in Highbury and some of the most miserable were in the Conglomerates in the second half of Wengers reign.
