Declan Rice
David Raya
Lots of complete flops on that list. Arguably 10 players that you could describe as adequate or better.
Would you now trust Mikel and Edu with your war chest if you were Stan? I’m not sure I would….
These are the ones that I'd say have been a success and White and Tomi only just sneak in. I've included Kiwior because I felt he'd done enough to earn more time.
Not a ringing endorsement is it.

So many of those players are youth/reserve team players. Trusty for example was allegedly a top American player at Colorado Rapids, the MLS club Stan owns, so we buy him for next to nothing, loan him to Birmingham to see how he does in the championship. Chelsea, Man City ect buy promising young players, and loan them out to see how they do. Its taking a punt. We did the same with Marquinhos, maybe he is the next Martinelli so take a 3m punt. He seldom played, was sold for a small profit. Tavares for example cost 7m, we got a 2m loan fee form Marsielle last year, and the loan to Lazio is 1m loan fee and a 6m obligation - a profit was Made on Tavares. He was signed when we still a llong way of it, and as soon as the standards elevated, he was ruthlessly discarded. What's the problem?Kingralph wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 8:07 pmJust seen a quiz on the .com showing every signing made by Arteta:

I just dont see the reason to get wound up other these incidental signings.
Mari was signed in Covid times when clubs were losing money, we are shit when we signed him, he played a few games and was moved on. Runarrson was a reserve team goalkeeper - third choice even and cost pretty much nothing.
I tell you what you should do. List those players in the order in which they signed, and the list will look very strong toward the back end, coinciding when Arteta started to fully integrate his ideas and standards.

If you think Turner, Zinny, Jesus, Havertz, Fabio Vieira etc. look “very strong” then I’d like some of what you’re drinking please.
You’ve got me thinking. Am I the first person to have ever used ‘Fabio Vieira’ and ‘strong’ in the same sentence?

I think people need to remember how far off it we were when Arteta took over. We had the likes of Mustafi in defence. It’s going to take a decade to get us to where we want. Does anyone remember the absolute dross City signed over multiple seasons to get to the current financially doped football machine they now have? Jesus and Zinchenko were key in that first season to getting the belief back. We signed them for their winner’s mentality. However they were never good enough, which is why City sold them to us. We need to move them on and upgrade. Which is what we appear to be doing. As long as we are constantly improving I have no problem with the fact we signed them in the first place. We could never jump from the post-Wenger/Emery shit show to signing world class players. We now have Champions League football year on year and a “project” that people want to join.

We have leapt above the scum, who were finishing in front of us for the last few seasons, Utd, Chelsea, and overtaken Liverpool who actually won title 5 years ago.
The only thing currently in our way is City and that is a huge mountain to overcome .
Can’t wait for people to lose their shit when super Mik’s new 4 year deal is announced
